I™ve decided to finally make an appointment at a skin center. Any advice on what type of treatment would work best for my scars? Don™t want to go in there clueless or pay for something that isn™t going to work. I do occasionally get acne still but i want to go ahead and get something done as I™m self conscious over my face. Thanks guys! Been a silent follower of these boards for awhile but finally making a post :)

You have the typical shallow-to-medium depth boxcars. Typical treatment protocol for boxcars are either subcision or Infini. However, I feel subcision is more suitable for deep boxcars and tethered scars. Hence, Infini or other RF microneedling device should be looked into.

  • Manual subcision over device as the first step.
  • See a specialist, Derm or Plastics
  • Have a look at their before and after pictures
  • If the specialist doesn't use angle lighting, beware. If he or she does not touch your skin to feel for fibrosis, they don't know what they are doing.
  • If they don't ask you to animate to see if your scars are tethered they have no clue.
  • If they don't stretch your skin to see the amount of atrophy, beware
  • Revision starts with a through examination - touch is critical, if they miss fibrosis, they have no clue.
  • Like every sub specialist, who ever you see should take heaps of photos and work with you both physically and psychologically to improve the appearance of scars and the psycho-social impact.
  • If they don't get it, forget it.
