Hi

I am trying a treatment of several fractional lasers to finish it of with a tca peel or erbium yag. If this makes sense????

However there are a lot of negative recommendations on this forum and from some specialist.
While others had great results after more then 3 treatments and specialists recommend it more then co2 because there are less complications.

I have read a lot of bad stories of people who have tried it once, I believe it takes several treatments.

I am talking treatment for small scars undeep icepicks,, bad skin texture underlying damage.
I would do something ablative but I feel and see I have underlying skin damage which I want more leveled out.

Has anyone had some improvement with fractional, can I expect a 30-40% improvement?
Does the skin flake with fractional?

I would just get dermapen/needling done instead, speaking from my personal experience with fractional laser. I had it done twice after thinking it did something the first time... Yes it does help with pigmentation/faint coloured scars (not icepick) but the downside is they leave your skin with alot of texture & have possibly made my icepick scarring worse!

Some people look down on them because of the risks involved, always do as much research as you can before jumping into anything invasive, check out RealSelf or the laser damage support forum: http://iplandlaserdamagesupport.prophpbb.com/

I have had 40% improvement by co2, maybe 20 % by tca full peel, 10% by tca cross, 5 % by dermarolling.
The way I nourished my skin varied from stress and smoking, to good food non smoking and sport.

I believe it depends on skin type and condition how people react to laser, realself show 84% worth it (might not be accurate)
People heal differently, have differentthickness of skinand practitioners treat differently.

Some swear by dermarolling, others have had no improvement or even deep skin damage.
To me it seems that every treatment is a potential risk but the more invasive can give greater results and greater damage.
I'll take the risk for fractional laser because I know I can heal good from co2 laser.

Got Mixto near 3 months ago, next Mixto next week. No complications, but really bad hyperpigmentation for 2 months, that's it.

It's probably the only thing that got me results in 1 sitting.

Lasers aren't the way to go for deep ice picks - use it for shallow scars, texture issues you want to blend in.

Edit: you may likelysee the icepick scars widen and shallow after treatment. This is my experience at least, not necessarily a good thing.

Most people that hate it are turned off by the disaster reviews you sometimes see on realself.

I had laser almost 2 years ago and am happy I did. I always say that laser is overpriced and overhyped, but I think it lowered my scars by a grade or two. Subcision with fillers will probably be my next treatment, but Im tempted to try picosure.

To the OP, unless the proper protocol is followed people will not see the results they are looking for. Also laser is more expensive that most everything else.

I never wanted to do lasers, especially after my negative experience with skin needling.

yet I am flying out to see Dr. Davin Lim on August 30, and see what he says.

These laser beams can stimulate collagen synthesis, which is the primary cause of the skin's suppleness and smoothness and keeps it that way even after a person reaches their thirties. The drawbacks of ablative and non-ablative laser treatments, which repair skin damage brought on by sunburns, have been overcome using fractional laser procedures.
