So I just used an exofoliating polish on the skin around my t-zone, where I have a lot of blackheads. It didn't happen to all of them, but some of them turned really dark.
It might be that you exfoliated a thin layer of dead skin covering the "black" stuff in there, aka. exposed the clog. Maybe it would be a good time to use some chemical exfoliator (usually some form of acid or enzyme).
