Background: I had acne for years and at some point it just got worse and worse. After trying all sorts of stuff my derm put me on accutane, and it's done its job.
I've been using accutane for the past 8 months now (30mg/day at first, 20mg/day during the last month) and my derm told me it's okay to stop now. I haven't had any break out since months ago (thank God) but I do have some scars and PIH. Furthermore, my skin has become quite fragile and I'm getting some fine lines (wrinkles) on my forehead. However, I still have accutane pills for 1 month left and my derm told me that it's also okay for me to keep taking it for another month. I also noticed a very small pimple on my forehead but nothing to worry about lol. This might seem like a dumb question but should I just keep taking it for one more month or can I stop completely? Does it matter at all? I'd rather stop cause of the side effects but hey any advice is welcome.
If you've been mostly clear for a month and your close to your cumulative dose, I wouldn't see the harm in stopping. If the side effects are tolerable - taking it one more month probably won't hurt either. In other words, it's completely up to you. Well - really, it should be up to your derm. It would be nice if they gave you a more definite plan of action on that, huh?
