Hey there.
So I have been on the generic retin-a since September.
My routine is
AM:
Wash with cetaphil
Cereve am moisturizer with spf
Pm:
Wash with Cetaphil
Tretninon nightly
I found out after a few months my face couldn't handle using it everyday. My skin was raw and turned red way too easliy. I have been using the highest dose
So I knocked my application down to Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That has helped but I get breakouts in between. So I went back to my derm and she told me that she was going to prescribe me the 0.5%. And for me to do it every other night.
But heres the thing I forgot to mention to her, whichI emailing her about now.
I am still unsure where to put the retin a on my face. For some reason I keep getting pimples on my upper lip (little white heads not herpes or cold sores). and i keep getting them on my nose. Like on the nostril part. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I don't know if i should be applying it inbetween my lips and nose and also on my nose. I am not sure
Can someone tel me how to apply retin a without over using and not getting it in the wrong areas. I know you are not suppose to put it by your eyes.
Some advice would be helpful..
Also I do not wear lipstick, or chapstick. So it has nothing to do with that. I just don't get it.
THank you
You don't use retin a near eyes or mouth & Breakouts are very very common during use of retin a but retin a will vanish your acnes with regular use nd you can use pea size amount of retin a daily or if your skin get irritated toi much then after every 2 days ( once in 3 days )
You are 100% correct, I had to do the same thing use it every third day, and also use an oil free moisturizer on top of it, otherwise my face still peeled like crazy. My dr. Said to use cerave pm on top, but I found it wasn't moisturizing enough so I switched to an olay regenerist night cream, and wow what a wonderful difference that made.
