That is, there are no shallow scars of any kind. They are actually even but look indented because enlarged pore lines and purplish marks, giving off an optical illusion. Is this possible?

im curious about this too as I have a lot of red marks right now and some of them look like they are not even with my skin but almost scar like

Yes, it is possible. I had some lingering hyperpigmentation (as well as actual scars) for over a year after cystic acne and I had originally thought that some spots were scars when they were just slight redness making it appear as a "shadow" on my skin aka indented scar. When the redness was gone, my skin looked much smoother.

Well I think what you can do is get a good concealer that is highly pigmented, but not too cakey, apply it over the red marks and see if there is still a shadow. If it does not cause pitted shadows, then it's just redmarks creating an illusion of depth. If it is pitted, then well you have your answer.
