Was at the Dr on day a nd he mentioned he only wants me to do another month .... so I wont be hitting the cumulative dose ... at 40 MG for just 90 days and weighing in at 105lbs I am technically supposed to be doing 5 months so I am a little worried with his plan. My face has definitely gotten worse on the accutane. I am attaching pics from the start of the treatment (wet hair pics) attachment=46007:start.jpg]post-163971-0-97170900-1355334076.jpgpost-163971-0-89279700-1355334077.jpgpost-163971-0-80165600-1355334078.jpg

to now: (Please excuse the expression I am feeling very low about the way things are going... it was mentioned at a work meeting in front of everyone that my skin is getting really bad before I took these)

Yeah that's strange. My doctor told me the opposite and I have to finish 6 months and I will be 165mg/kg..That's a bit high, right? I felt like I would be rude to question her decision on the spot so I'll definitely do it next month so you should ask your doctor too!

I can tell you that in Israel it is popular not to get to the cumulative dose... according to what the doctors here say (and they have TONS of experience with it, I could easily say that it is the easiest to get Accutane here than anywhere else in the world - you can seriously get it for 1 zit), the dose you should take is 0.5 body weight for 6 months, if the pimples go away before that there is no reason to keep taking Accutane on clear skin, I don't know if that is the right way, I'm just saying that is the most popular way of doctors to treat patients here, when I asked about it and said some doctors don't treat this way one told me "Tell them to update their researches".

Yep that's what he said. I don't know if he is right or wrong, I'm just saying what I've been told... I've also looked on the info supplied in this website, it says that the cumulative dose should be 100-120[mg/k] which is strange because everywhere else I saw claims saying 120-150[mg/k]...

Anyway, as I said, doctors here (Israel) give it even to the mild cases of acne... the common treatment is 0.5*weight for 6 months, when sometimes they stop the patient after 3 months if that was already sufficient to clear him up.

Speak to your doc again and find out his/her reasoning for the short course. If you are not clear by your last month then it makes no sense to stop treatment. I am on my 3rd month and i am ging through my IB and it sucks but i knwo in time it will heal - the same will go for you. You are a multiple user like me so wishing us the best of luck

After my treatment, i plan on asking for a retionoid to keep pores clear as i think acne is something i will ALWAYS have to live with.

Whats your after care plan.

The fact that your acne is mostly concentrated on your jaw makes me think a hormonal treatment may work for you: BC and/or SPIRO. Talk to your doc about that option.

That was very rude of the person who mentioned your face and you should let them know how inappropriate that comment was.

Keep your head up and smile....you are beautiful.

I wish I could go back on BC.... I was clear for years on Diane 35 ... but had a heart attack from several blood clots caused by the pill so I will never be able to be on BC again.

I have never actually stayed on Accutane longer than 60 days now that I look back into my journals ... I wonder how it worked so well with so little dose and stayed away so long.

My after plan is to avoid manual exfoliants which typically break me out and stay on the Anne Borlind sensitive skin line...and make sure not to over wash (one of my biggest mistakes)
