Hi guys,
About a year ago i bought the Indian Clay mask for my acne. Which i tried for a little while. I mixed my mask with apple cider vinegar. My face was fine when i did it the first time. Then one day i tried it again and it felt different. I woke up the next day and my face looked so red and kind of swollen. It left a weird red stain in my t-zone and around my nose the rest of my face isnt that red. Since then my face looks so red. I hate getting pictures taken because it looks like i am blushing. Before this happened my face didnt have that. Right now i am on accutane because my acne was getting worse i also have acne scars which is also making it worse. im wondering if any of you guys know how i can solve this problem.
Were you taking accutane when the redness occurred ? Have you taken antibiotics ? Do you have dandruff? Or a white tongue ?
Have you used organic oils or moisturisers on your face ? Is the affected area itchy ?
If you get back to me with answers to the above questions, I might be able to help you.
I only recently started accutane so no it was before that. I took antibiotics last summer. I dont recall what it was exactly because my doctor prescribed it to me. It was for my acne but it didnt work very well. I dont have dandruff. Kind of a white tongue. The stains areflat and not itchy at all.
O|K, thanks. The red "stains" (rash ?) (and your "acne") are very likely caused by candida fungus. Candida outbreaks are caused or made worse by taking antibiotics (and birth control pills and a few other meds). Taking accutane may make the problem worse.
I suggest you buy some nystatin cream (often sold as mycostatin) and apply it to the affected areas 2-3 times a day. If you cannot get nystatin cream without a prescription, then buy some clotrimazole cream and apply that to the affected areas.
The nystatin/clotrimazole cream may also solve your "acne" problem.
Do NOT use any moisturiser on the afected areas. Fungus LOVES moisture. Wash your hair in an antidandruff shampoo - I realise you don't have have dandruff, but antidandruff shampoos are antifungal.
Be aware that acne that does not respond to antibiotics is most likely caused by fungus, and the standard treatments for acne make the "fungal acne".
I am happy to hear back from you after you have applied the antifungal cream for a week or so.
Are you sure it is a fungus? I mean i am not questioning you but its just that it feels flat and just like my normal skin. There are scars on those lines as well which make it seem more red. Those red lines do look very suspicious and coincidentally symmetric. You could be very much right tho.
I forgot to mentionthis. Right now ihave three fungus spotson my hands and arm. I gotone after a while when i was done with the antibiotics in the summer it was located around my chest/stomach.And that one is already gone. And one right before i started accutane. And now i got two again after a while of using accutane.
Anonymous, if you have fungus spots on your hands and they occurred after you took antibiotics, and you have a white tongue (which indicates candida fungus) then the red areas on your skin are almost 100% likely to be caused by fungus, most likely candida fungus.
ANTIBIOTICS CAUSE FUNGAL OUTBREAKS (including fungal acne) ON SKIN AND ACCUTANE POSSIBLY DOES THE SAME.
Buy some clotrimazole cream (which is available without a prescription - clotrimazole cream is sometimes called Canesten) and some nystatin cream (sometimes called mycostatin, if you can get it without a prescriotion) and apply the two creams together to the red areas.
If you cannot get nystatin cream without a prescription, then just apply the clotrimazole cream.
Keep the red areas very dry and do not apply moisturisers or organic oils to it. Fungus LOVES moisture.
The problem should go away in a week or a bit more. Let me know how you go with applying the antifungal cream/s.
Do you have unexplained headaches, tiredness, brain fog, toenail fungus, thrush and/or sinus problems ?
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Hi,
Sorry for my late reply. I have been using the cream for two days now. My skin kind of looks a little less red. My skin was itching a little yesterday evening. Hopefully it will go away soon and is actually effective. I also have been using antidandruff shampoo. I also have a picture of my skin now.
Looks like the rest of your skin is improving, though ? Is that true ? The lines around your nose might take a while to improve because that area is moist. Buy some antifungal powder and carefully "dust" the areas around your nose with it - don't get it up your nose ! (A small amount up your nose won't do any harm, but it will make you sneeze). . You can use corn (maize) flour, if the cannot get antifungal powder, but you should be able to get antifungal powder .
I will try that and see if it improves even more. I decidedto quit accutane fully because i was havinga hard time both mentally and physically. I had these weird tendecies to harm my self. I couldnt stop thinking about it. It was scary and i never experienced that before. Also my back was killing me. I could on some days barely move.
Thanks. Your skin is definitely improving. That is excellent.
See if you can get nystatin cream (often sold as mycostatin). You can mix the nystatin cream with the clotrimazole cream, and that should clear the problem faster than the clotrimazole cream by itself is doing. Let me now if you cannot get nystatin cream.
Good that you stopped taking accutane. It would have been making your problem worse, apart from the dreadful side effects .
