Would This Be Hyperpigmentation?

Hello, I'm a 15 year old guy who has had acne since about 7th grade. My derm prescribed me doxycycline along with an epiduo pump around 8 months ago & my breakouts have reduced drastically. However, I noticed that while my skin is 95% smooth, there are still a lot of red marks on my face; I was wondering what this was. After a little bit of googling, I have came to the conclusion that these red marks are the result of acne lesions that were once on my face, which is hyperpigmentation but I would like the opinion of others just to be sure. Also, as a side question, how would I go about getting rid of facial redness? My face usually gets quite red during school and doesn't look particularly nice under the harsh lighting. Thank you!

I'm surprised your dark spots lasted 8 months bro, how bad was your acne before?

And yeah thats hyperpigmentation

I get the red face thing too, can't do anything about it tho. From my experience, its cause of the excess oil production man. Just gotta wait it out.

Yeah, I used to have pretty moderate acne, but now it's settled down a lot more & I just have these awkward looking red spots. I'm thinking the reason they're persisting is due to my pillow sheets, because the side of my face that I sleep on has a lot more red spots than the other side, so I'm going to make sure I switch my pillow sheets out and see if any of the spots fade. Thanks for the help bro :)

No problem dude. U could get them treated with an AHA or BHA to get them to fade faster, from the looks of it its about 2-3 months till its completely faded.

Hey! that definitely looks like hyperpigmentation, or "post inflammatory hyperpigmentation". I have the same thing, and the good news is that they will fade! the bad news is that it might take a while. I have hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and its been some months since my skin has been clear, but they have faded tremendously and I believe they will continue to fade. My recommendation to help it fade is to use Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar (but make sure you start off by diluting it with water! like half and half!) I do not use it every day but maybe once a week and I think its a great exfoliator. It will make your face red because it's acidic so I put mine on at night after I wash my face with African black soap. I also recommend to use sunscreen when in the sun because I have done a ton of research on hyperpigmentation and I've read that the sun could possibly darken the spots and make them last longer. Anyways, I think your skin looks pretty good! Just give them some time to fade! hope this helps!
