This is what happened to me, but I had only been using the product for about a week. So here is my question: I was using this because I thought it might keep my acne away, but does it bring stuff to the surface or something in sort of a "cleansing" process or is the product just not agreeing with me? I want to know before I toss it.
I used it for a month. I started breaking out after a few days and it lasted all month. I have since stopped using it because I dont want my medication to be in cleanser form. But the way I understand it is it does do a purge, for some it takes longer than others. For me, 1 month was long enough. I have since switched to a gentle cleanser (Purpose) and use only Alpha Hydrox Souffle at night. been doing it only a few days, but so far ok. Not any worse than using the AG, but not a ton better either. Going to try this regimen for a month to see how it goes. Anyone want to buy my AG cleanser and toner? 😀
I should get my AG cleanser the comming week. Is it so that I should avoid sun (in solarium) when using this? I was thinking of going to solarium 10 minutes every weekend, Ive done it the last two weeks now. I belvie it can clear acne, and I also get nicer looking skin all over.
Anyone?

So, is a solarium a place you tan? The glycolic acid strips off the top layers of your skin, exposing new skin on the surface, which would have normally been more protected from UV rays, so you can burn more easily. I hear tanning only provides temporary relief of acne, and can aggravate it in the long run, but I've never even tried to tan, so I have no personal experience with this.
since your in the red marks/post acne marks, im assuming your trying to get rid of those
tanning makes your skin darker, DOESNT mean darker parts wont get EVEN darker
take it from me, i did that, now my marks are really dark, but my general face only got a little darker
hopefully it leaves this winter when theres snow
I just ordered the AG cleanser. I am planning on using it in the morning, and keep using the DKR cleanser when I get home/night to take off my make up. I have seen a lot of clear up of active ance after being on YAZ for 6 months, but have fair skin which shows some of the red marks still and just any redness in general.
I have been using the DKR BP gel for about 2 years now, but want to try to get off of it as my skin is also just very dry, though I will probably use it for some spot treatment. I have had a lot of success with Complex 15 moisturizer. Hopefully this will help just keep things better in general.
Ok, I ordered the toner. I don't have any active acne, just an uneven skin tone, a couple scars, and about 20 small blackheads. I'm hoping the toner will help a little, I'm going to use it at night only and if things go well I'll use it twice a day. I'll keep you guys updated or start a log or something.
GRR I'm so confused. My face was nearly all redmarks when I began using AG...Now theres new pimples forming everywhere! UGH, I think AG is breaking me out which is bad news. Ive been using it for a month and one week. :confused:This is what happened to me, but I had only been using the product for about a week. I had a pretty rotten IB for the first week. Took one month to really see good results. That is just my experience, and I am not just using the AG.
I have been using AG for a while now, Though I am not completely rid of the red marks, my skin looks much better. there could be other reasons too that might have helped. I am now using a shower filter and water filter for drinking water and these two have definetly helped me prevent breakouts. I haven't broken out sice 2 months and my face is lookable without makeup now. I am very happy with the result.
If anyone is still breakingout I will strongly recommend getting a shower filter. each filter is supposed to last for 6 months and by far it is the best investment I have ever made for acne.
Alright, I was hiding.. But I've caught up of the past few pages since my last post, and I thought I'd throw in my two-cents.
Currently (I'm afraid to update my signature.. It's like an instant jinx, I've found), I wash off my makeup with J&J Baby Wash, pre-exfoliate with Neutrogena's Pore Refining Cleanser, use the AG and leave it on for awhile (kind of like a daily mask -- which I probably shouldn't be doing, but until it starts melting my skin off, I'll keep doing what I'm doing), then I lightly scrub that off with some more of the Neutrogena wash (I like the mircobeads, makes me feel like I'm really cleaning down deep), then I use the AG's toner, and finish with a few drops of jojoba oil mixed in with some leftover "time-released BP lotion" from a failed attempt with AcneFree Severe.
I just switched birth controls from OTC to Yaz, and I think it may be helping? I don't know, but there's a three month adjustment period before I know for sure. So it's hard to tell what's causing my acne to be semi-under-control as of recently. (Yeah, and if I just jinxed this, I'm slitting my throat )
I used to be on B5.. Megadosing and all.. But not only was it insanely expensive, it messed with my digestive tract TERRIBLY. I had gone off for a few days when I ran out, and my face FREAKED.. And then I went back on and it wasn't as effective as my initial go-around.. Then I landed in the hospital for a week with a kidney infection, and therefore did not have my B5. I just stopped since then.. It wasn't worth having to remember to take 20 pills, four separate times a day and watch what I ate because it would make me sick.. My life's crazy enough without the added problems.
My skin is.. Decent. Still have a few regular spots, and the BP caused a lot of red marks, but I'm scared to go back off of it again.
But yeah, so, basically.. The comments I gathered in my mind as I was reading through:
- Personally, the toner has helped me, and I recommend to at least give it a try.
- I HATE Cetaphil.. And I really dislike any lotion-moisturizers. Jojoba Oil is the only thing for me.
- I like Neutrogena's Pore Refining Cleanser.. If there's no texture against my face, I don't feel like I'm actually exfoliating.
To those who are having serious issues..
- If it's early in the regimen-switch-up, try and be patient. In most cases, there's an adjustment period for any regimen.
- If you're overloading, try to ease up a little.. Too much of a good thing can most certainly backfire and become a bad thing. Our skin isn't indestructible.
- If all else fails, these products just may not be your answer.. As continually stressed, Everyone's Skin is Different. Don't lose hope.. There is your personal cure out there somewhere.. You just need to figure out what your skin/body needs. But remember that we are always here to give advice, comfort, and feedback. We're all on the same team here (Kind of like Capture the Flag, for an analogy?).. And we will all beat this battle one day.
And for the record, because I know some of you are about to jump on my case: I'm not trying to sound like I know everything, and swear that everything I say is 120% accurate. I'm just throwing my thoughts out there, and there's merely my opinions, not facts.
I have been using the cleanser now for a while. It is doing a good job i am not denying that but while the skin is smooth i am still getting blocked pores and little whiteheads/blackheads. Becuase i have a hell of a lot of red marks it doesnt look very good at all....
I wash it twice a day and moisturise as well, but i am sure my face is just too oily and i cant seem to get around it. Does anyone else have the oiliness problem with AG cleanser? Any advice would be good?
A little confused here.
Now i'm using dans regmien with pretty good results, but i'we ordered the Aqua Glycolic cleanser. Is it safe to just switch from my normal cleanser to AG or will the skin get to dry from both the AG and BP?
Can I only go over to use only AG? Or will this probably break my out?

I highly would recommend not using AG and BP at the same time. It will make your face more red and might lead to breakouts. Both are very harsh so I dont think that would make a nice match

BP's okay for spot-treating though. Overall facial coverage (dan stylie) would be too harsh.

Spot treating? What is that?
You use BP on a f.ex one pimple? or on a special area you have a problem with?
My problem is the entire forehead, will it be okay to use both AG and BP there?
I haven't used BP in 4 days, and haven't had any real breakouts. This is the longest I haven't used it in over 2 years. My AG probably won't get here until the beginning of next week.
I agree about Cetaphil. I used it on my face and neck. I had a horrible rash form on my neck that was about 2" wide, and went from my jawline all the way down to my collar bone.
if you want to help yourself, get off the proactiv . no, im just kidding, but I just hate proactiv and what it did to myface and the majority of people that used it agree.
Though the agua glycolic would probably help your redness, but msot people get it just to get rid of their red marks. It does have an initial breakout for some, and its kind of a "weak" cleanser though, so It's your choice. If I were you, from teh sound of what your face seems like, I would go with a paula's choice BHA.
So after reading most of all 31 pgs I ordered the cleanser and toner from Rite Aid (they come in tomorrow). i was reading their website and it said that:
"For dry skin problems known as xerosis, or flakiness of the face and neck, I recommend the use of glycolic acid facial cleanser twice daily followed by a pH-balanced, high concentration glycolic acid face cream."
"For oily and acne prone skin, use of a glycolic acid toner during the day helps reduce facial shine and unclog pores. It may also soften inflamed, ingrown hairs which can result from shaving".
I have oily and acne prone skin so i wonder if I should only use the toner. My face is mostly clear with occasional break outs on the nose from diet. I have most of my red marks on my nose and would love to get rid of them. Any thoughts?
