Update:
Initial breakout seems to be over. Have a decent amount of spots healing at the moment but it doesn't feel like any more will be popping up. My oldest marks have faded completely, newer ones have faded about 50%. Very pleased with the fast results! The Toner is key, that extra punch of glycolic acid staying on your face during the day and night really helps clear up those marks and prevent new acne. I'm sure sudocrem and BP spot treating is helping too. I'm very please with the dramatic results so far, crossing my fingers that this isn't something that works great for 2 weeks and then stops like everything else I've used. BTW... it seems like many of the people trying aqua glycolic have very mild acne. Mine was at best moderate, so anyone with a more serious case of acne that is skeptical about giving AG a try... hey, so far it's working wonders for me! But again, the toner is key!

Okay, at first when I used this my face wasn't breaking out at all (the first couple days) and the current breakouts at the time were drying up really fast but then all of a sudden I had some mild breaking out on one of my cheeks and my lower chin (which is really upsetting to me) but is this what you experienced? and how long have you used it?
Weird, the only breakouts I had so far were on my forehead. Even then, it's mainly white bumps that were forming before I even started using the cleanser. Other than that I love this product so far, but it's only been about a week. It's worked faster than anything I had tried before. It also isn't harsh in the least bit. I'm also using purpose soap once a day for those that care.
I hope more people here will start getting similar results after a few days

Actually, those are the same places I broke out... cheeks and chin (also a lot of very very small skin-colored bumps scattered across my forehead that were only noticeable very close). It started a little less than a week after I started using the cleanser and continued for about a week. I started the cleanser on 9/11 and the toner on 9/19. I've noticed that I have to pop all my spots because for some reason the AG doesn't seem to make them heal very fast. After popping however, with the use of Sudocrem they seem to heal rather quickly.
Are you using the cleanser and the toner?
okay you guys it is sunday now and it's officially been ONE WEEK since i have been using aqua glycolic.
THANK THE LORD i have not gone into IB yet... *crosses fingers, knocks on wood*
i think i won't be breaking out bc well ive been using this for a week now and it wouldve happened already, i guess..
anyway
i definitely love aqua glycolic. it makes my skin feel sooo super clean and soft.
i think it's also helping to fade my red marks. my skin looks a lot more even now.
i wouldn't say my red marks are COMPLETELY faded, they are still red lol and noticable bbut they look a lot better than before. and this is working a lot faster than lemon juice or egg whites for sure!
i hope to see more improvement within the next week because i miss going out and meeting new people. right now im holed up in my apt because i look like a freak with all these red marks. ugh..
hope everyone is getting awesome results with this!! keep us all updated!
ps i use the proactiv toner after i wsh my face and i spot treat with neutrogena BP
I'm wondering if I should order the toner, as well.. I'm in my second week right now. Any thoughts?
I'm noticing that new formed spots aren't as common as they were when I began IB-ing a few days into it, less bumps are visible under my skin as they purge, and red marks are continuing to fade. I just can't wait for all of this crap to get OUT OF MY SKIN. Patience, patience, patience. It just gets frustrating sometimes, but I'm keeping a positive outlook. Honestly, so far, this is the best product I have ever came across.. Nothing has given me results even close to this. So even if AG doesn't ultimately clear me [Although I PRAY that it will], I will continue to use it because nothing else compares.
How important is SPF? It seems like no matter what lotion I put on my face, it causes me to break out. It sucks. I'm content with just using TTO after the AQ.. So if it's not broken, don't fix it?
Ok, I have ordered this aqua glycolic cleaner, which sounds amazing!
I have been on Dans regimen since May 2007. My acne is pretty much gone, but my marks are still very present. My upper lip scars very easily if i get a zit there (which I havent in months). I started using Apple Cider Vinegar a month ago to help with the residual brown marks, but the results are minimal with that. I figured I'd just keep going with that and be patient, but when I went for a haircut this week and the lady immediately said, "do you want to get your upper lip waxed, because you have quite a mostache shadow there!" I was really embarrassed because I know my facial hair is light, and so I know she had mistaken my old scars for a mostache. So I declined, and then after the haircut went to CVS and got a bleaching kit for my facial hair (just in case I was wrong about my hair) and bleached my upper lip. Well the hair is definately bleached, but the "shadow" is still there (ie my acne scars). Now I'm really paranoid that I look like I have a mostache and I really need to get rid of these brown marks!!! I went on here and saw the Glycolic stuff, which sounds great. Even better if I can use it and stop BP. I love that BP works, but hate the bleaching nature it has on my sheets and clothes.
So I called CVS and ordered it; it is coming in today, and I want to start using it tonight. So how do i incorporate it into the regimen? I am pretty much following the regimen "textbook" right now:
Cetaphil cleaner, 1 full finger of Dans BP and then Cetaphil SPF 15 moistureizer in the AM and Cetaphil regular moisturizer in the PM. I have been using the ACV after the cleaner and before the BP twice daily as well.
So how do I encorperate this new cleanser? Should I just swap the Cetaphil Cleanser with the Aqua Glycolic and continue using the regimen as I have? Or swap and stop the ACV? or should I stop everything and just use the Aqua Glycolic? Basically want to continue on my clear skin path, but get these brown marks going away quicker. Suggestions please!
Thanks all,
Lauren
Don't want to advise you in anyway. It's your decision, wouldn't want to be the reason you start breaking out again. Just let me say this, I stopped DKR (it was not doing my skin any favors) and began using Aqua Glycolic and the other products in my sig. My skin look and feels MUCH better. No more pustules, just a few random spots and minor, occasional whiteheads. It's only been a week and a half since I made the switch. That is just my personal experience, not saying yours would be the same.

I appreciate your input and honesty. And I'm not one to say, "hey I did what you said and now I'm breaking out and its all your fault and i hate you!" haha. no, I think I may just stop it all and try the glycolic with only some SPF moisture during the day and see what happens. Give it a month or 2 to work on its own. Then if im not happy with it, I can just go back to the Regimen, since I know it works for acne. But I have just read all 22 pages (phew!) of this thread, and I am encouraged enough to give this a shot to see how it goes. I have nothing to lose...except my brown mostache looking spots. EW!! Will keep you posted on my progress..
BTW, I am glad things seemed to have worked so quickly for you, Stardancer (and everyone). Seems like people see results rather quickly 1-2 weeks, as opposed to the Regimen, which takes at least a few months to see the full effects. PS Stardancer, do you not use an SPF? I didnt see that on your regimen. Also what sort of minerals makeup do you use? I want to try that, but I think that Bare Essentials is expensive. Any drugstore brands that are fairly good? I'd pick some up today when i get my AG at CVS tonight. Thanks and keeping my fingers crossed!!

Even though you weren't talking to me, I'll give you my input.
I don't use an SPF, either.. For some reason I cannot use any lotion or my face will lash out at me. *Shrug*
I use mineral makeup, as well.. I use Physician's Formula (Concealer, Loose Powder, Bronzer), and think it works pretty nicely. Although, I have not tried any of the other MMUs. I really want to try Bare Minerals, but I'm so broke because of school. 🙁

Do you find it covers the hyperpigmentation well? I presently use Revlon Colorstay, which I think is about the "thickest" makeup out there, in attempts to mask the brown spots. Dont like using such a thick makeup, but a lighter powder makeup wont do me any good if it is TOO light. Know what I mean?

Lauren -
I can't tell you how much better I like my skin - even with the occasional break out, without the BP. Overall, i don't think it is very healthy. But it does work for some people. Remember if you switch, you may get an initial break out (I had one 3 days after I started using AG, but it only lasted a few days).
The mineral make up I use has a physical sunscreen in it (I can't use chemical sunscreens, like in Coppertone, Neutrogena, ect... on my face, it breaks me out). I spend A LOT of time in the sun and never have had a burn on my face.
I haven't used any drugstore minerals before, but search the cosmetics section, you may find something. I order my minerals on line, and really this is your cheapest option if you can order online. Way less expensive than Bare Minerals. When looking for a mineral make up, you want to avoid bismuth at all costs and go with ones that have few ingredients. That is why I like the online option, most drugstore brands and bare minerals have bismuth in them. Everyday Minerals is another online option that a lot of people on the board really like, it is also relatively inexpensive.
Good luck. Keep me updated and PM me if you have questions I might be able to help with.

I love the way powder feels as compared to liquid. It's like having nothing on. It does give decent coverage, the trick is to use just a little, buff it into skin really well, and add more layers as needed (not too many though, I find 3 light layers builds the coverage to where I need it, more than that and I look cakey). Also make sure you get a finishing powder to help set the minerals.
If you are not yet off BP, make sure you moisturize well before putting on minerals or they can kind of catch in your dry spots. However, once I stopped using BP, I no longer had this problem.
Well if you're not in the sun too much, I guess sunblock isnt too big of a deal, but I use it anyways just in case (I forgot to put on my cetaphil 15 spf this morning and nearly freaked out at school lol... Luckily I was in the chem lab the whole time). I think I may switch over to PEL Basics' Sun Protection Creme.
This stuff is truly amazing. My marks are fading and I hardly break out anymore (and if I do, its like a tiny white head or two). I'm only about two weeks into this... I can't wait to see what happens in two months!

ahh holy crap same here (about the forehead thing)
I was just using the cleanser but I just ordered the toner and I'm getting it tomorrow
do you feel that helps with controlling the breakouts?
Hi All,
Update:
Got my Aqua Glycolic tonight at CVS. While there, I splurged and got the physicians formula minerals loose powder and concealer (oh ya and eyeshadow...that was SO important!). Anywho, came home and tried a bit of the makeup because I knew I'd be washing my face. The powder I think is going to be great. I really will be relieved to be free of the thick mask that is ColorStay!! Although I dont know that I have mastered how you are supposed to use the container/shaker thing. You could call me a dumb blonde, but unfortunately I'm brunette. I digress...(joke...blondes please take no offense!)
So then I just washed my face with the AG. I like it. It's nice. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside like watching Sesame STreet on Saturday mornings. Just kidding. It is nice though. Like the way your face should feel. Nice and clean. Slightly tight. I have been using Cetaphil for over 4 months, and this is similar, but a little more tight feeling on my skin. Trying not to touch my face (thats a whole other issue!!) but when I do, it feels quite soft. One thing, it did not get my mascara off, so I may need to get some makeup remover for that.
Then proceeded to take my BP, Apple Cider Vinegar and Cetaphil wash out of my cabinet and into my closet out of site. That felt good. I hope they can stay there. I hope I can ask for sheets for Christmas with a pattern on them, instead of white. And not ruin another quilt. Again, I digress. Clear skin without brown spots FIRST, then colored sheets So plan is before bed to use some Cetaphil moisture and then in the AM use the wash and the cetaphil SPF moisture and the minerals makeup. Thats my new regimen.
Here goes people! I pray I get the same results as the rest of ya!
Lauren
PS It smells REEAL NICE too
Although I dont know that I have mastered how you are supposed to use the container/shaker thing.
Personally, I really hated the little brush that came with it. I went to Walmart and got a large powder brush, and I use that instead.
I close the flap down, shake some powder in between the flat lid and sifting screen, and then I swirl my brush, tap excess, and buff into my face in circular motions. That dome part is only to hold that crappy brush.. I don't believe it actually has a purpose other than that. I now use that dinky brush to apply bronzer under my brows to highlight my eyes, actually. Haha.
Figured i'd show a pic of what I am trying to fade! Consider this DAY 1. Stuff on chin fades ok, but upper lip is SO stubborn, and has been like that for at least 6 months. its really embarrassing to me, and to show to you all. do you guys who have used this for a while think this stuff will help with what I've got??

Your skin doesn't look that bad! Don't be embarrassed at all. Even though your skin looks pretty good, I hope the AG gets it to where you want it to be. I know that this product has helped me (slowly but surely), I'm sure it can help you too.

Thank you! I am greatful that it has cleared. (thanks to the regimen) but you can see how it had been bad based on all the marks (also due to me messing with my skin for years as well). i really hope this does the trick. It is bittersweet to clear up your acne, then have ANOTHER issue to deal with.
Update, nose still greasy, but skin feeling healthy...like its breathing!
