Weaning off of birth control?

Hi everyone,

I am 27 and have been on birth control since I was 21 due to severe acne. Nothing else that I tried has worked for me (dermatologists, creams, diet, etc) and now I am at the stage where I would like to get off of it. However, I am terrified of my skin having a big break out! I understand that I will get some pimples and I can live with that, but I don't think I can go through cystic and severe acne again.

I have read on some blog posts that some people have tried weaning off of the pill over a 6-9 month period. I wanted to know if this has worked for anyone or what their experience was like weaning off of the pill. Is it worth it to try and wean off of it or is it just avoiding the inevitable?

I am currently taking B vitamins, zinc, vitamin C, magnesium and probiotics to support my skin.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I'm not sure about the weaning off process, but remember you have the regimen just in case you break out and need something for that period of time when your body is readjusting.

Also, as far as supplements go, I'd say fish oil is a good one to add.
