I was diagnosed with pcos by usg and i had acne and stubble on my chin but the periods were never a problem. They were regular. I tried aldactone but that screwed my periods. Tried bcp but coming off it was a disaster.. the area near my chin used to break out fiercely and the sidefffects associated with long term use of bcps. Can metformin alone cure my acne? Plz suggest

Hi Choco stix - I wrote a post on here yesterday about how I've helped my acne caused by pcos. I have been on and off bcps for years and years (Yasmin seemed to clear up my acne perfectly). But like you, I hated the long term side effects. My skin REALLY flared up when I came off them about 6 months ago but I pursued in going down the holistic route (takes some time, trial and persistence but it is really worth it).

I'd recommend a book called 'The Hormone Solution' which you can get quite cheaply off Amazon. Really a god-send if you hate the side effects of medication. Good luck!

Is metformin alone effective for pcos acne because i dont want to mess my regular periods by using aldactone.

Ive heard mixed reviews. You may just have to try it. Read a few PCOS sites and see what they have to say about it. Look into inositol as a supplement.
