Im questioning if mirena iud is contributing to my acne! Im so desperate to know! I've had the iud for 15 months and my face is getting bumping i've had acne since 12 but not bumping and now im having big red bumps

Mirena uses one of the worst androgenic progestins when it comes to acne. So, yes.

If you like the convenience of an implant, the only implant I would really recommend is the Paragard IUD, because it is the only one that does not have bad acne-creating hormones.

I have a Mirena too and while I was already on spironolactone, the progesterone in mirena made me break out slightly. My doctor fixed this by giving me an estrogen patch to balance it out. No more acne, and I can keep the best birth control out there!
