Thanx wishclean....I did some search on DIM and although i found mostly good reviews about it ,the only thing that didnt go well down with me was that it had caused hair fall in some cases.
Did you also experience any hair fall while on it?
I already have significant hairfall due to pcos and don't want to go for something which might make it worse.
Hoping to hear from you.

No it doesn't normally. People use it along with biotin for hair growth, so it should help not hurt. For me, it slowed down the shedding I had before starting inositol. I didn't experience more hair loss, actually the hair loss lessened. Now that I added DIM, I notice that I shed even less hair, although I haven't seen much regrowth but that might be too much to hope for so early in the treatment.

I am having such a bad time with acne.....i get 4-5 new painful heads every week...
More than falling hair,I am stressed out because of my face. Its completely covered up by acne and scars.....And the zits hurt so much.
I don't want to go back on birth control pills.Right now, just sticking to inositol.
Has Inositol helped you with acne?If yes,how much time did it take for you to notice any effect??
This battle seems endless.

Falling hair is probably due to stress... birth control can also affect this, and also hormonal fluctuations. You need to give your body time to adjust to coming off birth control.
Inositol helped my acne and other symptoms, including stress. For me, I noticed a difference within the first 2 weeks, but for others it can take up to 3 months. I now combine it with DIM and the results are even better.

inpursuit, I had hair shedding for quite a while and was worried about it so I tried taking inositol and choline. It stopped the shedding in its tracks after only a week or two. It's definitely worth a try. If it helps your skin it will be an added bonus! (:

2 weeks is not long enough to decide it it's working. Are you taking the powder form? How much are you taking? I always start slow and increase gradually to avoid initial breakouts.
Can you take DIM and Inositol at the same time?
Yes, I am doing that. I just take them at different times. Inositol works better on an empty stomach, while DIM after a meal for me.

Great! I think I'll do that. Do you think I should introduce them 1-2 months apart or start both right away?
Well, what I did was use inositol for a while because it's milder than DIM. I didn't want to add DIM unless I needed something stronger. Inositol would have been enough if I didn't have estrogen dominance symptoms. So you can start with inositol for a month at least, then add DIM, or the other way round.
The soul cysters website has some more information about PCOS and these supplements.

Thanks so much for all the info and advice! gonna start inositol today!
WishClean, did you notice a reduction in oil from inositol?
Hmm maybe slightly. I think possibly from the decrease in androgens, but I still get an oily T-zone when I wear foundation.
Witch hazel is supposed to help with oil control, but whenever I use it it seems to make me more oily. Now I use my setting powder under my foundation and also use boscia blotting sheets to absorb the oil topically.

hey WishClean!
this is such a good thread. good to hear you are having such success on inositol. Im thinking of trying this myself instead of agnus castus... I don't think agnus castus is having an effect on my skin any longer..the place i get it from changed the branding and since then it seems to have lost its effect. i remember you saying that vitex cleared you but then after a while you started to break out on it again...i think the same thing is happening to me. how long have you been on inositol for now? I also just started to take dim and im going to stop vitex.
xx

Gracie, with agnus castus you need to adjust the dose. You can't keep taking the same dose for over 6 months, you have to reduce to a maintenance dose (much lower to the one you took when your acne was worse) otherwise it can have the opposite effect and might throw other things off balance. Don't quit vitex abruptly, you have to reduce it for a few weeks first. That's what I did the last time, and adding DIM helped me not breakout after stopping vitex.

aaaah i see....thank you for the response ever since they rebranded it and squashed/changed the reccomended dosage I've started breaking out and having problems again and i think it is a lower dose than before but MUCH lower.. like from 400mg to 30mg. I'll have to figure out my dosage now and dosage before because I'm sure it's much lower now. I've just started taking DIM, but not for long enough to see effects. how are you doing on inositol? xxx
I've been taking inositol for 6 days now and noticed I'm feeling super tired especially in the morning. I get up and I feel like going right back to sleep. Feeling very drowsy, lazy and unproductive, just want to eat and sleep all day, have a hard time focusing when people are talking to me. Anyone else had similar side effects on inositol? Is this permanent? I'm taking the jarrow formula one.

Inositol is still working thankfully, and so is DIM. I'm also getting weekly acupuncture sessions, and it's helping with stress and relaxation.
Hmm I only took vitex in liquid form so I'm not sure how many mgs you should take. Maybe keep taking the same dose as before for another month, then slowly cut down to a low, maintenance dose.

When are you taking it, morning or night? And how much are you taking? Some people take it at night because it has a calming effect, while others take it in the morning to stay alert. Personally, I prefer taking it in the morning on an empty stomach because it makes me more alert. But I read other reviews that say it makes them sleepy so they take it at night. You can't start taking the full dose right away...your body needs to adjust.
I haven't tried the jarrow formula but based on the reviews it seems a bit stronger than the source naturals one I'm taking.

I did as you mentioned i think and began taking 1/8 teaspoon morning and night.
P.S. sorry I think the website is being buggy and won't let me quote so I replied like this.

What dose does the jarrows formula bottle recommend? Maybe it's different/ stronger than the source naturals formula, and you need to start with less. You can try taking it only at night (a few hours after a meal) and see how you feel.
Whenever I took more than I needed I felt a bit bloated and sometimes, if I took it at night, I had trouble getting up in the morning but also some trouble sleeping (could have been stress though). Now I'm just taking a low dose once a day in the morning and it's still working, so more isn't necessarily better in some cases. I had to take it twice initially just to notice a difference, but now I don't feel I need as much because I am also taking DIM.

It says serving size is 1/4 teaspoon, so i've been splitting it into morning and night.
I haven't started taking DIM yet cause I want to see what Inositol can do for now. I'm also starting my 4th month on BC and still breaking out a lot.
