Hi. I had a baby nine months ago (had acne under control for many years with Diane 35, after a successful Accutane treatment), but my skin is breaking out. A few cystic pimples down my jaw and on my high cheek area mostly. I took up Diva (drospirenone) this month, and expect to get better, but I was wondering if this acne couldn't be caused by some late hormone alteration due to child birth and the fact that I had to stop breastfeeding my baby five months ago... I don' t know. If anyone had an educated guess, that'd be great I'm from Uruguay, South America.
Very possible that it could be hormones AFTER the fact you've had a baby. I'm going to write my personal experience in the right place after this but I'll write it here for you since I'm responding. After 7-9 years of being on Yasmin, I got off to get pregnant and 1 month later I was pregnant. Immediately my skin began to change in every way. Oily, blackheads, some bumpy skin. Eventually by 15 weeks my face blew up and I dealt with it until after delivery. After he turned 3 months my skin was not breaking out anymore but at 10 months post baby, it went to hell again. It was most definitely hormonal. I refused birth control and stuck with antibiotics that didn't help. Facials and diet change helped me honestly. Kept clear from the time my son turned 2 until I was under stress a year ago. Still not horrible but it was annoying as hell. I'm 6 months pregnant now. Breakouts here and there which bug me but I came armed this time. Knowing ins and outs as much as I can and I'm also a licensed esthetician now. So, 3 months left and I'll decide wether or not to get back on the pill to completely eliminate breakouts. Its all hormonal. What triggers it and why I don't know but it happens. Did you break out during pregnancy?
Hi! The truth is that my skin was fantastic during pregnancy, except for the occasional, annoying zit every now and then. It is now that I started with rushes again, specially on the right cheek. Yet, my skin is quite dry, not oily at all... Curious. I also believe it is caused by hormone change. I expect it to get better with preoxide benzoyl and the pill. Fingers crossed! And thank you for responding!
I know why it happens but it always makes me scratch my head about why some acne goes away, gets worse or suddenly appear for the first time during pregnancy! Glad you had a clear time though. Spiro should help you out tremendously. Sometimes it's all you need. Other times the BP is a god send along with it or other topicals that suit your skin. Yasmin is what I'll probably take again if I make up my mind on what I'll do. It also has spirinolactone in it. That's why it keeps a lot of women crystal clear, along with the hormone in it. Great product choice to clear acne. Just the after effects are heart wrenching for most that suffered some sort of acne before taking it.
Good luck girl... And you're welcome )
