Hello I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about vitamins? About the dosage and possible side effects? I especially am wondering about B5, as I've heard some serious horror stories about hairloss, is this only going to happen if you take megadoses?

I've had some of the worst acne possible, starting from when I was 13 and I've been on accutane twice. During my second phase of accutane I decided to quit (1 month into the treatment) due to the severe side effects I was encountering. Determined to find a better way, I stumbled upon this book which I cannot more highly recommend. Since then I have been experimenting with vitamin A and I couldn't be happier with the results. I know that vitamin A is the cure for acne, because when I stop taking it my acne comes back in hordes, and when I start taking it again it goes away, and I've now done that about 3 times every single time with the exact same results (I stop taking it, it comes back, I take it again and it goes away). However, it upsets me that nobody in the acne communities seems to mirror my experiences (even though that book I referenced contains copious amounts of scientific studies that show vitamin a curing acne). Accutane is a vitamin A derivative, so its no surprise that just taking regular vitamin a (in much smaller doses) should have similar benefits (without the dangerous side effects). In addition the mechanism of action is known, sebaceous glands have vitamin a (and vitamin d) receptors, which regulate oil production. As such the more vitamin a (and vitamin d) you have in your blood stream the less oil these glands will produce. My skin has very small pores, so when my glands overproduce oil a scenario happens consistently where the glands are producing more oil than the small pores are able to release (causing terrible acne). So anyway, long story short, I highly recommend buying a bottle of cod liver oil and taking a teaspoon of it every night with dinner (for best absorption). Cod liver oil contains high amounts of both vitamin a and vitamin d. If you decide to start taking it, just like with accutane, you will have an initial acne flareup where it seems to be getting worse and this happens for me about 1 week into taking it, but then after that it will go away permanently as long as you continue to take it every night.

Best of luck, stranger.

My son had moderate to sometimes severe acne that improved by around 50% by taking minocycline and other topical products but it was vitamins that got rid of the rest. He takes a teen multi, zinc, vitamin c and vitamin d3 and the results have been amazing. On a side note he's also been using glycolic acid gel for exfoliation which also seems to help. Good luck

I've been taking a supplement called Herpanacine and it's helped tremendously. I supplement it with 2T of apple cider vinegar diluted with water that I drink each morning and have seen great results so far - only into my third week but I already see changes (no new pimples at all, just some red marks from previous ones).

Hi, Acne are common skin problems that can be found in multiples at face , back, and neck. Among the vitamins that has been prescribed by dermatologist before is Vitamin A.
