So for the past year almost, I've been using BP as my acne treatment. As far as I can tell, it helps keep my worst acne at bay, but it's never completely cleared me.
So I did a little research (and by research I mean google) and a little thing called green tea caught my eye. And it had me thinking twice about BP. Sure, BP kills bacteria, but other than that, it kind of ruins my skin. Green tea (used topically), however, is as good at killing bacteria as BP is, BUT it also has anti-oxidants, and lots of other good things for skin that I can't even pronounce Not only is it more natural and better for skin, but it's also DIRT CHEAP! Also, I do believe it can help heal red marks faster, and reduce oil, unlike BP.
ANYWAYS, I've decided to swap out my BP with a green tea bag, and just apply that topically. I'm a little nervous, because I've been using BP for so long, my skin might have a fit if it doesn't get its fill. But in the end, I think this will be better for me.
So my question, does any one approve of this? I know lots of people on this site cling to BP like life support. Maybe they think I'm being fooled by simple google searches where no one really knows what they're talking about.
Does anyone else use green tea, or has tried it?
Personally, I was in the same situation that you are In. I was getting tired of using Benzoyl Peroxide (PanOxyl 5% Facewash) btw and i just felt like it was drying out my skin more than anything at this point (I had been using it for a little over 11 months) Now dont get me wrong I will say PanOxyl helped clear me up about 75% but I was still getting acne every week (new spots) and i decided to just drop it cold turkey and switch to a new product. Now I haven't had any personal experience with green tea washes but I switched to a dermalogica "Dermal Clay Cleanser" and the active moisturizer they have. The products are pricey however I am really enjoying them. And Ive been on both for about a week and a half now. Anyway long story short don't be afraid to get of Benzoyl peroxide I actually ordered the dermalogica products and they were sitting in my house for about a week before I grew the balls to switch off my BP (I was so scared) But anyway if you do switch please keep us updated on what you get!
Im making a switch from all the antibiotics including accutane and even bc to natural diet. I feel like i put my body through hell. Those medications only ruin and weaken your immune system. Since i took those medications especially accutane i have now suffered bowel movement issues. If your colon is not right you health is not right. So now im going on a colon cleanse, parasite cleanse, Candida. Cleanse, heavy metal cleanse and kidney + liver cleanse. Ill see where this gets my skin and most importantly health!

I agree, i went through about 3 weeks of accutane before I jumped off because of how bad the side effects were (I don't even know why isotretnoin is even a thing the side effects are absolutely not worth it. If you can solve your acne via natural/homeopathic ways more power to you!
