Hi guys,

In the gym i frequent has a sauna/steam room so i was just wondering is it good to use the sauna after/before a workout? Is it good to sweat out after a workout or every other workout? Any input or even a source would be helpful. Also, I have facial acne and its getting super bad lately. one of my colleagues said it could be because of sauna however I read somewhere that it helps recover acute acne.

What do you people think? Share your experience

Thanks!

hello, it will be a little healthier if you use it before training and sweat. ^_^

Hi,

Thanks so much for replying. I definitely will. Also. I read somewhere that infrared sauna helps making skin better. I am linking the resource for you to read: [Edited Link Out]

Do you have any experience with infrared sauna? And is it expensive?

Hi,

Im from Finland and as you know sauna is a really big thing here (well we invented it). Basically every household has an own sauna. Regarding the effects the sauna has on the skin: there is really no scientific evidence on how it affects, so the "evidence" I have are only anecdotal. With years of experience I would say sauna has some benefits to the skin by killing bacteria and opening up pores etc. However, I would say that a too hot sauna would cause more harm than good. However I dont think that will be a problem in any other country than Finland, since saunas worldwide are very mild (we have very hot saunas in Finland).

The negative side of sauna is that your skin gets very dry afterwards, so it is important to moisturize. Also, dont listen to @mediapnk. You should go to the sauna after the workout not before.

I had bad cystic acne, and tried sweating in the sauna many times to clear my pores.

Unfortunately, the steam / sauna does not heal acne. Many times, acne is caused by internal problems, so you want to try to heal your acne from within. Personally, I found that it was the food I was eating that was the culprit.

The sauna is great for many other reasons though, including the enjoyment of just lounging around in a towel for a couple of hours.

Accutane helped with my body cysts. It's not for everyone but it's helped me and I got no side effects which need to be considered. It was a 6-month process for me, although I saw results within several months.
