This is an educated guess, it may or may not be correct.
Most of the human immune system is in thegut. A healthy immune system helps keep the skin healthy. To stay healthy the gut needs the right balance and amount of bacteria.
The Lactoferrin in the Pravantec MAY have corrected a bacterial overgrowth in your small intestine. Lactoferrin claims to "Promoting healthy bacteria in the intestine". Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is known to be a cause of some types of Rosacea. Multiple types of bacteria can be the cause of SIBO. You may have had a type of bacterial overgrowth that Lactoferrin was effective against. Pravantec also claims to have something called "LumiCell" to rebalance the intestinal flora. I can find no information on what Lumicell is.
Rosacea Subtype II with papules and pustules is frequently misdiagnosed as bacterial acne. It is not bacterial acne. R The SIBO affects the immune system leading to an overpopulation of the common microscopic demodex skin mite. The overpopulation of the Demodex causes the skin issues diagnosed as Rosacea Subtype II with papules and pustules. Rosacea Subtype II/demodex does not respond to bacterial acne treatment.
The demodex skin mites eat skin oil and possible skin cells. The demodex skin mites live and die on a 2 to 3 week cycle. When a die off occurs, the pustules appear on the skin surface. The mites may also cause large blackheads, papules, itchy skin, possibly red skin, broken veins, red eyes, blepharitis/ocular rosacea, scalp acne, body acne, etc.
The long purge you experienced may have been several generations of mites slowly dying off. As the adults died off, the eggs they laid hatched and matured. As each generation died off the population shrank. Eventually your skin cleared.
A healthy, well balanced diet, low in sugar along with probiotics and or fermented food should help maintain a healthy digestive track. Unhealthy fast food should be avoided. Drink plenty of water, exercise and get enough sleep. All of that will help maintain a healthy gut and help maintain clear skin. Once the acne is gone, you should be able stop the Pravantec. Eating healthy and watching your diet, exercise and sleep should help keep your skin clear. A simple gentle skin cleanser and non-comedogenic moisturizer should be all that is necessary to maintain healthy skin.
If your skin problems reoccur, go see a doctor.

Alternate Prescription Drug treatment for SIBO:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oral Ivermectin (kills demodex) along with the correct Oral antibiotic can also treat SIBO and Rosacea Subtype II in 2-3 weeks. The correct antibiotic is the one that targets the specific bacteria causing the SIBO. Oral Metronidazole and the more expensive Rifaximin are 2 antibiotics which can clear SIBO. A gastroenterologist can perform an endoscope test to collect fluid from the small intestine. That fluid is tested to determine which bacteria is overgrown. Knowing the bacteria allows a doctor to select the most effective antibiotic for treatment. The antibiotics used to treat SIBO are not usually the same antibiotics prescribed for bacterial acne.
