I have learned a lot from you, so do u think this is from a liquid toxin? Like that's the main source? I wish I knew what to test for?
I have been following this discussion for years. But I have failed to follow the advice presented by Aussie Scientist which for me is the most useful on this thread if you think your issue is fungal. So I have struggled longer than I needed to.
Things that dont help -
1. Pulling out the plugs. You just risk driving the infection deeper or giving yourself a bacterial infection like staph. Once the fungal infection starts to resolve it doesnt matter there are white plugs - the body starts to break them down. So just stop picking!
2. Agressively exfoliating- just ruins the skin barrier and makes it easier for the fungal infection to take hold. I have found using differin gel as it doesnt have any fungus promoting ingredients like some other retinoid creams (slowly building up) the best to help clear out pores which can exacerbate the fungal folliculitis. Alternatively you could use urea but it needs to be in a base which doesnt feed the fungus.
3. Treating too aggressively- do not throw 5 things at it, trying to nuke it. Slow and steady wins the race. You try and nuke it, the skin barrier will be impaired and once again the fungal infection will be harder to remove. So dont use shampoo, anti fungal cream, tea tree, boric acid, etc etc all at once
4. moisturising. Try not to moisturise if you can help it. If you need to - use it sparingly and check it doesnt feed fungal acne - there are fungal acne checkers online.
5. covering it with anything occlusive - honey for example. Might be anti fungal but the occlusive nature just creates a breeding ground.
my routine -
1. twice a day wash with a hibiclens type wash. Ive actually found the dog shampoo made by Douxa to be way more gentle - once the infection is under control I would revert back to a more gentle ph balanced wash - again check it doesnt have fungal acne promoting ingredients. I use purito barrier defence.
2. twice a day use an anti fungal - sparingly. You dont want to clog the pores or create too much moisture. Ive actually found canes tan solution to be the best for me. It only has one ingredient - macrogel 400 - which is a pretty inert ingredient. Do not go crazy trying to use this 4/5 times a day - just makes skin more irritated.
3. use a moisturiser if needed - you dont want to compromise the skin barrier but do not over moisturise. Fungal acne safe ingredients needed. I use neogenesis barrier repair.
4. keep the skin dry - dust with powder. Just like with athletes foot - a dusting powder is key. Try something more gentle than foot ones. I feel like this piece of advice from Aussie scientist is very underrated. You will see a quick improvement using a dusting powder. Even when you go out - you can use something such as Mario Badescu healing powder.
5. makeup - if you need to use makeup, use mineral makeup which is powder based.
also Aussie scientist was very against oral anti fungal but I would do your own research. You will still need to do the above but it can get rid of whats deeper in the pores - itraconazole is safer than ketoconazole. And you can have liver function tests to ensure you are tolerating it.

I have thought about it after our talks ... When I was little the pipe broke in my room and black Gooey stuff was everywhere due to tree roots, you said the mud. I think it's a bacteria that lives in mud/moisture. The bacteria finds a host and transforms it self to survive. It's as if it is keeping us alive just to live, but same time eating and burning our skin off.

From what I remember what I was told Queens Anne's lace is a tiny fiber like hair that comes from the outside of a Queens Anna's lace plant it causes a fiber like fiberglass that is fuzzy that gets underneath your skin and permanently stays there and causes a forever itch is what I was told by my mother when I was a kid never to mess with queens anna's lace
and it very well could be some kind of organism that lives inside queensland's lace and that's why each one of us it's different because there's 100,000 of them inside Queens Ann's lace and which one is living inside the hair that got in you it's different than the one that got in me because of topical location and statistical probability
