How bad is my acne? (pics)

My dermatologist keeps trying to push me onto Accutane. I don't think I really need it. My acne is not scaring and is somewhat well-controlled on my current regimen. I probably get between 2 and 6 pimples a month, mostly around my period. Also, most of the marks on my one cheek are old red marks from pimples I had before I was on my current regimen, same with the chin. I have one or two there right now that are actually pimples. So far this month I think I have had 7 or so pimples, but no more than 2 at one time. I have never had a cystic pimple.

Why would your dermatologist try to put you on accutane? There's barely anything.

could be hormonal since it seems to occir only or mostly around your period - definitely not accutane material. spiro or hormonal supps may work.

Thank you all for your kind words! I think my dermatologist makes the largest profit off of Accutane patients and that's why he wants to put me on it.

Yes, I definitely think it's hormonal. I take Yaz birth control and have noticed a significant reduction in breakouts now as opposed to a few years ago when I was taking another type of bc. Was considering spiro but since my acne is so mild I didn't want to go through the initial breakout so many users talk about.

no no no do not go on accutane, your skin is amazing. maybe get a benzoyl peroxide, off your GP or even off somewhere like Paula's Choice. not sure if you pick at your spots, but if you do then stop, they will go quicker and won't scar. 🙂
