I'm finishing my accutane course and have no active acne but three closed comedones on my forehead. they're bothering me and making me anxious because I don't want them to turn into pimples. Will using an extractor I used on the blackheads on my nose work, or make them inflamed?
If you are going to pop them, I'd recommend steaming your face first for a good 10-15 minutes. Then disinfect the area with alcohol or salicylic acid toner. Also disinfect whatever tool you intend to use.
After you've completely extracted the contents of the infected pore, disinfect the area again with alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide. Follow with benzoyl Peroxide in the area, and definitely Polysporin (antibiotic cream). Polysporin is incredible at healing - it speeds healing and prevents scarring. If the area is very inflamed, you can ice it.
