I've never suffered from acne; nor has anyone in my family, so i don't really know why I suddenly got this at the age of 17. I have ONLY acne on my cheeks as well. I mean that's okay but I'm starting to get worried about having scars. That will stay for a long time.

1) why am I suddenly getting acne and why only on my cheeks?

2) are these red marks?

Do they feel flat? Do they disappear temporarily when you apply pressure to them? If they do then it's probably post inflammatory erythema, which you can get from acne.

I believeit depends on the severity of the acne that was previously there before they went away. They will fade eventually but it can take up toseveral months or more. I'm not trying to scare you or anything but I got my marks from deep cystic acne, which I picked and squeezed at a a lotand the marks left overare still pretty noticeable after many months.

If you're acne wasn't deep in your skin and you didn't pick and squeeze on it often then they should fade sooner. It's best to prevent yourself from getting the marks in the first place, so if you've been picking and squeezing your skin try not to do it the future. You could try rubbing some aloe vera on them and see if it speeds up the healing, ice might work as well.

I believe, Acne is not always hereditary or person to person spreadable problem, what I mean its not every type of acne works the same for every person. The main reason behind these are:
1. Sometimes as youre growing up, you may get acne because of changes in hormones, and most commonly these effects in the cheek area.
2. Its depend upon these marks, are they kind of pimple or flat. They best to get rid of this wash your face with some natural face wash and stay dirt away from your face. Hope that helps!
