I'm getting pretty frustrated with not having a reliable form of a cleanser. I need something that will keep my skin from getting as oily as it does! I've tried all of the natural things such as witch hazel, raw honey, goat milk soap, lavender oil toner, oat flour, brown sugar scrubs, etc. I've also tried cetaphil. The only thing that has somewhat kept my skin good is neutrogena deep clean gentle scrub, but it doesn't stop my skin from getting oily (btw i'm NEVER rough when cleansing with this, just kinda use my hands without scrubbing or applying any pressure) Can someone recommend a cleanser/toner/astringent ANYTHING that will be a reliable way to daily prevent oily skin?

Oily skin has a lot of factors. Excess hormones, cleansers stripping your face so it overcompensates, not enough or too much moisterizer, heat, diet, etc.

Try looking at it from a different perspective. Changing cleansers over and over may be more damaging than good (how long are you waiting to see results? Sticking with a product for about a few months usually is enough time but can take longer)

try getting your hormones checked. My face is very oily, I had excess testosterone. Currently Im using Spironolactone (but dont jump right to that, you might have an easy fix), Cerave moisterizer, body shop toner. Oil blotting papers also helped when I was extremely oily

I recommend Eminence Organic Skin Care products; I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and these have never caused a breakout nor stripped my skin of moisture. If you're looking for a drugstore brand though, I'd recommend CeraVe.

I recommend la Roche poseys Effaclar cleanser. Been using it for years. Very reliable. Had at least 10 different cleansers before.

I have had everything from completely clear skin to Greasy and full of acne. Works well all the time. Leaves a clean feeling when used.

I recommend greek yoghurt, or a good quality organic yoghurt with pro-biotics. The natural lactic acid works as a gentle exfoliator and I find it takes the greasiness right out of my skin, and doesn't dehydrate it. Face washes (no matter how "gentle") are so destructive to skin IMO.

I recommend Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser.

With the emphasis on the "gentle"!!

Or la roche posay as per previous poster.

I wish it were that simple. A cleanser is only going to remove the oil on your skin at that moment in time but the oil will come back during the day. There are a few drugs in development that are supposed to reduce oil production but as of now the only thing that actually does this is Accutane (if you are female you might also try an androgen blocker likespironalactone).

I have oily, acne prone skin too and I use LifeBrand charcoal face cleanser and it doesn't break me out, in fact it shrinks my pores and makes my face so soft and it doesn't contain paragons, sulphates that dries the skin and other harsh comedogenic ingredients. I also use the LifeBrand charcoal peel off mask. They can be found in shoppers drug mart and they are really cheap and you don't have to break the bank.

You don't have to use a cleanser with acne fighting ingredients so it doesn't dry out the face, after cleansing use maybe salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide then use a moisturizer with no acne fighting ingredient.

Use oil blotting sheets during the day also.

For toner, I use tea tree water from lush and it is amazing.

You can message me if you have any other questions and I can help.
