No, only on my face.
Then it should not be of any problem. The active ingredient in Finacea is Azelaic Acid. Some people actually use this stuff to treat hair loss. Side effects should only be mild and related to mild itching or a stinging sensation when applied, this should only be temporarily, also some report redness of skin or dry skin. This should also be mild and temporarily. If you experience something else please tell your doctor.

Ok. Thankyou for the reply.
I'm also on 100mg of Minocycline. Could that have any affect on me losing my hair?
No, only on my face.

Yes. It seems like Minocycline could cause hair loss. This side effect is reported as "less severe". But yes if you experience hair loss it could be from Minocycline. But it could also be from something else.
I don't know if you are female or male. But many females with PCOS diagnosed experience hair loss and acne at the same time.
In both females and males hair loss and acne can be from hormone imbalance.
The above is known to most (if not all) physicians and doctors.

The following is pretty new science and I myself is certain this was the cause of my acne and hair loss.
The hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can be upregulated. This is the hormonal imbalance. DHT can cause acne and hairloss. The upregulation is caused by western diet like saturated fat, simple carbohydrates, and milk and dairy products.
The above foods will probably not cause any problems if eating in small quantities. But most of us eat it on a regular basis. I did, and I had acne and hair loss.
Science says to avoid foods with acne-inducing effect:
Milk, milk products, whey, cream cheese, whey protein concentrates, milk chocolate, candy, potato chips, cornflakes and other carbohydrates with high glycemic index such as white bread, rice, potatoes, wheat noodles, fast food. Also avoid saturated fats and fats with high proportion of n-6 fatty acids, especially arachidonic acid, in lard, pork liver, liver sausage, egg yolks. Avoid smoking. Avoid frequent snacking and eating snacks. Avoid sweetened soft drinks such as cola drinks and soda. Avoid lack of exercise and overweight.
Do the following: Eat raw vegestables, fruit, blue berries and tomatoes (Esney: I think fruit and berries should be limited, but not excluded, because of the fructose content )
Eat wholemeal bread, plenty of fiber, high fiber, own cooking, fresh vegetables, frequent consumption of sea fish (tuna, salmon, herring, mackerel) or other foods with high content of anti-inflammatory n-3 fatty acids (Esney: n-3 can raise dihydrotestosterone(DHT), and induce more acne right now, but in the long run n-3 is great)
Multi hour pause between food intake is recommended.
Drink mineral water, unsweetened black tea, preferable green tea(Esney: Green tea can also induce acne in the beginning from elevated DHT)
Sporting activity and ideal body weight is recommended.

I did pretty much the above but with very little fish and no tea.
You can see some of my other posts regarding the above here:
Please by advised that a lot of people on this board do not believe acne (and hair loss) is caused by diet. I believe the scientific evidens is overwhelming.

I'm not experiencing any hair loss but I am worried that it could arise with extended use of Minocycline.
I've been on it for about 4 days. Can 4 days of use cause hair loss? Also it is giving me really bad stomach aches and I have stopped using it.
One last thing, how long does it stay in your system for?
Once again thank you for your knowledge, it has really put my mind at ease.
EDIT: I'm a Male.
No, only on my face.

It seems like the 100 mg is a pretty standard dose. I would not be worried about 4 days of use. I think it is a good idea you have stopped using it if it was "only" to treat acne?
Unless you took Minocycline for some other disease I think you are safe and sound
To treat acne eat the stuff I listed. If you do not see any improvements in 2-3 months time, something else is causing acne in you. If you want to go on the diet and you do not see any improvements, you can write me, and I will help you.

Yeah, I was prescribed the Finacea (which is working wonders as I have sensitive skin and other products in the past have made my skin very red and itchy) and the 100mg of Minocycline each day
It was only for the acne (which I really only have during the warmer months). The pains in my stomach I was told could be from the Minocycline.
I will try the diet. I don't eat alot of junk food but my fruit and vegetable intake needs to be boosted.
I will keep in contact and let you know how the diet is going. Thank you once again.
