Hello,

more than six years ago I've sworn myself, that if I ever get rid of this s, I will post about it.

I'm male, 21 and HAD acne since I was 15 (Most time about 20-30 pimples at once). I tried a lot of medicine as you all did and of course it did not help or only made my skin worse.

Finally I realized, that most doctors have no idea of how to treat acne. How can a studied physician seriously tell me that Nutrition has nothing to do with my skin. Of course it has an influence on your blood pressure and your fat level and so on. But cause acne? No way!

Seriously how can my skin not be influenced by something I put in my mouth every day? Because of those dumba* I had acne five years too long.

Now let's cut to the chase:

Do the PALEO DIET: you can google your food. Mostly it consists of vegetables, fruits, fish and meat.

Now here comes the important part. I did a few things wrong so I first thought the diet wasn't working.

Avoid meat for the first 30 days to get a fresh start.

Do not eat a lot of nuts. I even can't eat small amounts although officially I'm not allergic.

Also avoid huge amounts of dried fruit.

As I followed those rules I almost were clear, but I found the final issue. Most paleo people think it is okay to consume butterfat or butter, so I thought it was okay to consume it on a regular/daily basis. Boy was I wrong!!!

Since I avoid absolutely all dairy (use coconut fat!!) and follow the common paleo rules and the additional rules I talked about, I completely cleared up.

After 5 to 7 seven days you will realize that no new pimples show up. Also the old ones heal faster. Take a picture, after three weeks you should see clear result if you do it properly. Let me remind you: I thought it didn't work good enough but it was always because I still ate something wrong!!!

Nice side effects: Since I do this I didn't get sick once (over a year now), I lost most of my asthma, I almost completely healed my pollen allergy.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I wish you success!

(Btw I'm not a native speaker, so please excuse mistakes ;) )

Yes dermatologists are dumb*sses, I completely agree. And yes I believe diet has a huge factor in acne. There's so many success stories here and online about diet change. How can dermatologist be so stubborn..

I agree that it's a good idea to limit dairy, but I've never considered nuts to be a cause of acne. And many people substitute almond or cashew milk for regular milk. You noticed a direct link between acne and nuts?

Yes, with me it's definitely the case. Really small amounts are fine of course, and also I think cashew nuts work best for me, but in general I avoid them.

Reason: Nowadays we often have higher intake of Omega6 (inflammatory) than Omega3 (opposite effect). Most nuts have a bad O6:O3 ratio, so they support inflammation.

Also nuts contain phytic acid which is similar to the "poison" contained in grains. These things damage your gut.

If your gut is fine, you'll be fine. Important functions like the immune system rely on a healthy gut.

For a perfect article about nuts google: "paleoleap nuts".

(I'm not affiliated with them in any kind, but I like their writing style)

Btw, if you are afraid that you will lose weight on paleo, you can eat lots of white potatoes and white rice. I do so and I turned out to be just fine.

If you want to lose weight, paleo will make it very easy, as you won't be hungry, but still reach a healthy weight.

Beste Gr¼Ÿe :)

Great post! Do you have advice for someone who has a sweet tooth? I tend to get major sweet cravings in the afternoon which always messes up with my healthy diet. I already drink lots of water and eat green veggies but how did you stick with the Paleo diet long term and not succumb to junk food cravings?

Hi Imlh,

I have no problem with sweet cravings as I eat tons of fresh fruit ;)

I start with fruit and meat in the morning and then I eat some during the day.

I know paleo people say one has to restrict fruit, but I think that's at most right for people who want to lose weight. I do so since I started paleo and it seems to be very fine.

You can also try dried fruits like raisins, figs, dates etc., but I can only have small amounts of these (Watch out for additional sugar and preservatives!)

If you miss chocolate from time to time try the dark one. It often doesn't contain dairy and is low in sugar.

Try to get lots of starches with your main meals, if I'd only eaten green veggies I'd be dead by now :) White potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice, carrots, cabbage turnip are my favourites. Also your main meals should consist of greater amounts of food than you were used to with your old nutrition.

Ahhh great advice! Although I can't eat too much fruit or dried fruit as it makes me break out and messes up with my insulin levels. But will start Paleo once college deadlines are done, next week!

Thanks again for the tips :)

I've been so stupid with my diet. I swear I was scared of everything! There was a point where I only ate eggs and oats. What torture that was. Lately I've only been eating beans, blueberries, sweet potatoes, homemade carrot sauce, and uhh steamed pears. That's nothing!

And doctors can be assholes. Even from a standpoint of ignorance.
