Hey all! I've been dealing with this issue recently along my jawline and neck that I'm not quite sure what it is. I've had acne (mainly on my cheeks) for the majority of my teens (I'm 21 now) but recently it's started to clear up on my cheeks because of treatment I've been doing. However, it doesn't seem to want to clear up or get better along my jawline and neck. It's also incredibly itchy and painful sometimes to the touch (like a stinging sensation almost), and it appears inflamed. It's worse on the left side of my neck than it is on my right. This is leading me to believe it might not be acne that I'm dealing with in those areas, but rather some kind of skin issue. I'm thinking it could be dermatitis but I wanted to show it to you guys to see if anyone is dealing with the same thing.
My parents recently switched insurance, and the new one kicks in, in about a week, so I plan on scheduling an appt with a dermatologist when it does, but until then I was hoping to field some suggestions so I could try some over the counter remedies.
Here are some pics. Hopefully someone can give me something to work with.
Thanks so much!!!!!
Hello Gman,
Hmmm that does look a lot like acne however a trip to your dermatologist would be better. It could be allergies or it could be that your treatment is just not working out for you. I would suggest that you avoid touching your acne in the meantime or even using any products on your neck and jaw line as it could aggravate your skin condition. Also, try using clothes that will not rub repeatedly along your neck. Hope this helps!
I don't know if this will work for you but the weeks after I started taking omega3,zinc,d3. My neck acne cleared up completely. I really don't know why, but i have heard that neck acne is due to an infection and zinc is known to fight acne causing bacteria. Actually my whole face cleared up drastically but my neck 100% cleared. It was filled with huge white headed pimples that you would feel without touching it. It shouldn't hurt to try, I mean you can buy zinc for like $4 anywhere.

thanks so much! i plan on doing that. the treatment has been working moderately on my cheeks but pretty much useless on my neck. I think it keeps it under control from exploding but doesn't get rid of it.

thanks man!!! had no idea about zinc. I take omega3 on the daily, since I'm not the biggest fan of seafood so my fish intake is close to none lol. however, I will most def pick up some zinc tomorrow.
Be careful what you use to shave with, that could be causing a lot of irritation around the neck/jawline.. I know it did for me. I use a a small electric razor now for my neck, and only shave my mustache area. It drastically cut back on the amount of acne I get on my jawline/neck.
