First post to the forum!

Was just wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom or better yet personal expirience and can help me out here. Ive been suffering from moderate acne from the age of 17 (lots of whiteheads, small red cysts that dont break surface etc) and I am now almost 21. I went to the derm and was prescribed duac gel for spot treatment and Adapalene (Differin) to use once a day. Having been on this for almost a year now it has done a lot to keep my skin clearer. It has not cleared me 100% but done a decent job. However I notice now that when I get a zit it will leave a scar (escpecially on cheek area and temple region). Needless to say this alarmed me and I made an appt to see my derm a few weeks ago. Upon seeing him he imformed me that due to the severe dryness of my skin (thanks to the topicals) my skin is very easily damaged and reccomended perhaps trying Absorica (accutane) as my acne is genetic and my brother still suffers from it at the age of 27. While I know that accutane dries you out just as bad I was wondering if this sounds like sensible option? It seems that ISO is really the only thing that can provide long term relief as I cant imagine slathering these topicals on my face for another 7-10 years :((( I am also nervous about coming off of the topicals when starting ISO and going through a bad IB ( I cant afford any more scars!) Has anybody had any expirience coming off of differin and switching to accutane? Does is make the IB better or worse? Any advice is very much appreciated.

Sorry for the long post!

James
