Hello everyone!

Only just discovered this website and I've been on it for hours reading up on treatments and your problems etc

I'll get straight to the point... as most people suffer with acne in their teenage years I was expecting this and it didn't seem to bother me as much back then as I thought as my teenage years was coming to an end I thought good riddance and that it would clear up an amount I would be reasonable with.

I had been on 'Duac Clindamycin (1.2%) and Benzoyl Peroxide (5%) Gel' (See pic) for the past 5-6 years and it worked wonders. I did have the odd time where acne broke out but of course it wasn't going to disappear completely and even when the doctors reduced the size of the tube I was still prescribing it.

And then around July when I went to the chemist to pick some up I was told they couldn't get any and to try other chemists to see if they had any left. I kept trying after each week but was told the same thing.

A month passed by and I tried new things, Benzoyl Peroxide just on it's own (2.5%) which didn't do a thing, Zineryt which seemed to just sting and it smelt like vinegar. I'm currently using proactiv+ after reading reviews from people but I'm not too confident on it.

I even used toothpaste as a last gasp attempt at getting rid of acne.

Worst thing is with acne on my face i don't like to go out anymore besides work where I have to and my confidence has vanished completely off the scale it's not even at the bottom. I get stressed because of the acne and I tend to get more because I'm stressing It's actually making me depressed! Also when friends ask me what's wrong I can't bring myself to mention the real reason as I feel uncomfortable.

Anyone else had/have this same problem or similar?

P.s Sorry for rambling on!

sounds like you aren't in the US (the chemist was a big hint, we call it pharmacist here in the states), it is still available here and is generic as well

so you may need to get creative, can you get clindamycin 1% alone? you can certainly buy the 5% BP, so you may need to make your own, or mix them up right prior to application

search on line pharamcies, there are ones from India, I've seen ads from Canadian ones, that is your other option

good luck, don't give up!

No not in the US :) It's called that here sometimes I guess it's whichever you're used to. Still available there? Damn it!

Hmmm... making my own concoction do you think that's wise?

I'll get looking at the online pharmacies!

Thankyou!

P.s Also I've been prescribed Erythromycin which is a antibiotic and just the other week 'Isotrex'

Have you tried making changes to your diet & lifestyle? A lot of the time this is the way people find a long time cure for their Acne.

hey, at least you know that there is something out there that works for you! there have been supply issues with benzoyl peroxide in the uk and ireland but duac is still available in america and elsewhere. don't use any sketchy websites since you never know what you will get but you may have to be a little creative sourcing the stuff. i used Duac for years, my dermatologist told me it would be fine to mix clindamycin+bp together if i wanted to save money, but it might also be the vehicle of the BP that is breaking you out.

i'd try sourcing a good quality 5% bp from the US amazon or something if you can't find duac anywhere. good luck!

I have the same issue, I am 21 and still get occasional breakouts and I am guessing mine are hormonal. Anyways, about a year ago I didn't have health insurance so I couldn't get my Epiduo or Clindamycin, so I ended up buying a BP wash of 5% and the acne.org BP which I use at night. As for the clindamycin, I saw it once on the internet a version of it (not the same brand) but I'm not sure if you can still find it.
