Does anybody has a cyst excised from their face?

I have a recurring cyst on my face and wish to have it excised but am worried about the scar left behind.

How will scar look like and will it be obvious?

yes and of course the answer depends on a few things: 1) where is it? some areas heal better then others 2) this is the BIG one, WHO IS DOING THE EXCISION? a plastic surgeon or a derm, and if a derm how experienced are they? and 3) your after care will matter

so find a really good doctor to do this, I'm not a fan of the dissolveable stiches, I did better with the go back in a week and have them removed stitches, and I used mederma after about 10 days religiously

and it's a lot better then a cyst that won't go away, I had the same ones injected over and over, and enough already...this really does work, but takes work on your part, PICK THE RIGHT DOCTOR

The cyst is located at the middle of my cheek. I read about both the laser and minimal excision technique which do not require stitches as only a small cut is made and the cysts is then squeeze out.

Are you familiar with any of this?

Is it advisable to carry out this procedure while on accutane?

yes, I've had both- the bigger incision will remove more of the scar tissue if needed

and I wouldn't do anything while you are on accutane, you don't heal well....unless the doctor assures you that it isn't an issue.....sure sounds like something I would avoid

I would like to avoid it but the thing is, the cyst keep getting inflamed and swell to a huge ass size. I had 4 coristizone shot administer to it already and the last one was just 3 weeks ago.

Did you had the incision done on inflamed cysts or non-inflamed one? I was thinking of getting a cortizone injection to it first to reduce the swelling first so that the excision won't be so big.

Regarding the laser and minimal excision method , did your cysts came back after the procedure?

Lastly how long was your downtime, before the scar heal.

Sorry for having so many question, i am going to see my derm next week so i wanted to have more info before i decide on what to do.

I had them injected multiple times too, and they kept coming back

we waited until the inflammation went down then he excised the cyst, removed the cyst wall and some scar tissue and I was left with a linear scar of about 1/2 inch on each of them, one was longer but along my jaw line.

cysts NEVER come back once the wall is gone, that's the good news

healing took about a week, I've had the stitches that come out and the dissolveable ones, I prefer the ones that stay in, then the doctor takes them out in a week...the line is red and takes a few months to fade completely but I put a dab of cover on them at the one week mark, and then used mederma too...6 months or so down the line it's just a white scar which you can have lasered down

to me it was worth it, the damn cysts just kept coming back
