I have pretty oily skin. Blackheads on my nose and elsewhere on my face. I get pretty bad cystic acne on my chin and on my cheeks and sometimes on my forehead. I think these are mostly caused by trapped sebum building up. Obviously the acne bacteria gets in there and go to town which causes my cystic acne. I can sometimes find the pockets of sebum and squeeze them to get rid of the sebum however I am wondering how to prevent the sebum from getting trapped in the first place and if any one here has this same problem.

For this particular problem, the only thing I know of that works are oral medications that prevent the sebaceous glands from producing that sebum in the first place.

e.g.

1. Anti-androgens such as spironolactone (females), or saw palmetto, stinging nettle, pumpkin seed oil (males)

2. Accutane, which shrinks the sebaceous glands for a time
