Ugh I missed missed the Accutane part too. Oh well... Both annabill and I missed that part.
Sorry it was a miss understanding.
Annabill you were rude to solveacneforever but, who wasn't?! Haha
yes,as far as i know he/she was a spammer/troll and banned now.
also,misclegend!
anyway,to OP i never said one had to be 'somebody' to get help.
acne.org helps everyone.u might wanna re-read my post.
in fact,i apologized for missing the accutane part.
i clearly dint know u were to a derm and i only meant it out of concern.
its sad u thought my post was stupid but provided u get what u need, the right help, me being stupid or whatever is irrelevant.
since its ur post i thought i should clear things with u.
as for the spf,
its best to stick to physical sunscreens(with high% of zinc oxide) for it provides optimum protection from uva and uvb and also , is known to help acne.(a.p will second this, she's a proof)
(just like zinc pyrithione)
as for
chemical ones,u would try to avoid ones with oxybenzone because its found to be irritating for some.
also,as the spf increases the greasiness will increase too(in case of only chemical sunscreens)
u can also go for natural sunscreens but reapplication is a big issue if u spend more time in the sun.(like aroma magic range)
i am unsure where u r from but u could get the neutregena pure & free range(for the babies)(note: it doesnt have paraben and oxybenzone)
are u intolerant to alcohols?
u could check the thread by lewis(lewiss) and myself on sunscreens for more idea on brands and their features.
for PIH on acne-prone sensitive skin,i feel a mild bha wash (regular use) is the best option .other than aha which moonlight have already spoken about.
just be sure of the pH.
I suggested AHA aanabill because I was making a suggestion on how the poster could help fade his Hyperpigmentaion after accutane. Aha would be a nice choice. aha is meant to be used on skin that isn't broken out.... Which after he is off his accutane course and he is clear and it is safe to put chemicals on his skin, this would be effective for his marks.
BHA is more used when you have white heads and black heads you need to treat, which his accutane is treating. It is strongly advised against by medical professionals to use any sort of chemicals on your face during a accutane course. But besides that. Once he is able to put acids and chemical products on his face BHA would not be what should be used because he will have no active acne after his accutane course.
Superyew if you are interested in learning the difference between AHA and BHA I have inboxes you a link.
Just since you are getting mixed advice about which to use.

aha is good.i did say its an option.so is bha,its just lipid soluble so once he's off accutane(particularly after the dryness subsides) it will help renew layers + maintain the pores too.
what accutane does is it reduces the size of the sebaceous glands/ducts /pores thus decreasing the sebum production.
this results in dryness.and makes skin sensitive.
that is one reason most on accutane are asked to use moisturising facewashes and asked to carry on for sometime after accutane as well.
(when i was on accutane i was given a moisturising cleansing lotion which was SLS/lanolin/fragnance free and very mild with balanced pH)
use of chemicals of any sort is not suggested for the same reason.
also,i dnt think accutane usually helps much with blackheads.in fact after a while the skin is usually seen to come back in its normal form in terms of whiteheads too(my case) and one thing that helps in bha for both.
so i considered both comedones and PIH.
for only PIH (without any other issues) i dnt see much issues with bha either except for if he has some dryness left.in that case, yes aha is better because it doesnt penetrate deep within the skin(its water soluble).
bha in general will help in keeping pores clean and unclog them(which has a long run effect).
pls note i am not in any way saying aha is not right.
i think its great but i am just answering the points u mentioned.
he can obviously weigh his immediate needs and choose.
there's always scope for changing.
also, check for aspirin intolerance before trying bha(SA).
The Neutrogena baby SPF I use also has ascorbic acid in it. I personally love it as it reduces PIH. I'm not really sure if this is a safe SPF for Accutane users. I tried doing a little research before posting this and I don't think the ascorbic acid in Neutrogena baby is stabilized (gentle) enough for Accutane users.
This would be a good SPF to use if you still have PIH after you're off Accutane for about 6-7 months.
OP if you read this my final advise to you is, listen to the two girls who were on Accutane and don't be afraid to ask your doctor for product recommendations.
Good luck!
