Hello!
So I'm sure that this product has been discussed on this forum before. I was wondering though if anyone had any advice on the clarisonic skin tool and whether they think it's a worthwhile product to purchase. I'll give you some details about my skin later because that might help you in giving your advice. The reason I'm wanting to really research this product and get advice on it is because it is quite expensive (I would probably go with the Mia or Mia 2 since those are cheaper). So far I'm hearing pretty good things, but I'm wondering if in my specific skin case if it would work.
Details of my skin type:
- I have mild to moderate acne. I tend to break out less than daily but more than weekly. I get acne mostly on my cheeks, chin, and jawline (occaisonally on my forehead).
- I also have blackheads on my nose that I've pretty much all but given up on ever getting rid of (those things are so stubborn!)
- My skin is quite oily (I don't really think I have dry enough areas to classify as combination).
- My biggest problem is acne scarring. I feel like I can manage my breakouts pretty well, but I'm left with a lot of scarring and post inflammatory red marks that make my skin look worse than it actually is.
I'm wondering if any clarisonic users have noticed any difference in their skin in any of these areas. Let me know what your advice is and if you recommend this product!
The manufacturers of Clarisonic tell you not to use it if you have active acne. The bristles moving at such a high speed not only irritate acne but can drive bacteria deeper into the skin.
I use my Clarisonic occasionally now that I am 100% clear. I mainly use it for exfoliation. I own the Pro version. The MIA only has the lowest speed, which I find extremely slow. If you want really gentle exfoliation, I guess it would be fine, but it didn't seem to work much better than a washcloth. The Pro has higher speeds which actually exfoliate off flakes of dead skin and such.

I think the Mia 2 has multiple speeds. I'm guessing the faster speeds will still be slightly slower than the pro though.
I've heard of people using the clarisonic though when they have acne (some actually claim it cleared up their acne). Also I was looking and they make brush heads for acne prone skin. Maybe those people were using it against the manufacturers directions... I'm not sure.
Thanks for the info though!
My nephew tried the clarisonic for his moderate-severe cystic acne. It did nothing to clear him, but did make his skin feel smoother. He was still red, inflamed, and cystic. But we found out later that his acne was due to unrecognized sensitivities. Another person's experience will probably be different.
