Hi! I'm new to this website. Anyway, I have a question about Monodox. Three weeks ago I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me Monodox 50 mg for twice a day. I was wondering how long does it take before I can see result with Monodox. To be honest, I'm having the worst breakout ever since taking monodox. I've been having zits particularly under my chin. Is this like part of the clearing up? And that after this it starts to calm down and heals things up? I'm breaking out in place I never breakout before. Hopefully you guys can answer me with this. Thanks

If you aren't seeing results after a month of taking the antibiotic call the dermatologist back and tell them that. They should change it to something that will. Monodox (doxycycline) just isn't effective for some people. That particular anitbiotic works by preventing the bacteria from multiplying, not killing it, and then your immune system is supposed to kill off the bacteria but the immune system isn't always able to do this. An antibiotic that directly kills the bacteria will show much faster results against acne but they tend to be harsher on the stomach from my experience.
