Ok my doctor first put me on accutane nearly 3 years back, back then i was doing 20 mg a day for almost a year, the acne cleared out but the scars remained which was pretty great as far as i was concerned. I got of the tablet and within months my acne had returned, it was bad enough for me to return to the doctor who after trying multiple gels, creams, tablets etc, put me back on accutane.
The second round was 40 mg a day for around 7 months, im currently off the tablet, its been 2 months and the ances' coming back, not as bad as before but there are multiple pimples on my face. So getting to my question...
I think the only medication that can 'cure' me of this is accutane... i havent found any medication that can hold it at bay as well as this, everything else i try fails. So could some one tell me if they've faced the same situation as me? and what have you guys done?
Could you also please tell what are the long term side-effects of this tablet?

To take accutane for long periods is very dangerous and harmful to your body. You need to try other things to try to combat your acne.
It sounds like your dose was too low. You need to reach a cumulative dose, which depends on your body weight, in order to actually 'cure' your acne. Unless you weigh less than 100lbs, 20mgs per day could not help you achieve that. That could only be considered a maintenance dose, which is exactly that, it will maintain clear skin as long as you take it, but it is not a sufficient amount to get rid of acne entirely. Maintenance doses are often prescribed to menopausal women.
Even if the patient reaches their cumulative dose, the chances you'll remain clear forever are only 40%. 40% will develop milder acne after treatment, another 40% will see long-term remission of acne, and the other 20% will see their acne return full force and need another course of treatment.
Yea i guess, was looking up the side effects and they do seem pretty nasty.
Derm put me on roxid 150 mg 2x a day for 20 days, already half way through the treatment by there hasnt been any improvement at all.
And what would you guys say about Nadoxin Gel 1%? is there a better alternative or should i look for a higher percentage?
Thanks for the help, really appreciate it.
