you use the epsom salt mask once daily preferably at night before you sleep. My acne bumps went away but I do have those red patches like yours all over my face. I have recently switched on doing a oatmeal mask nightly instead of epsom salt since my pimples are almost gone and now I have to deal with the redness. but i suggest to continue using epsom salt to dry out your pimples right now and maybe also calamine lotion too to help the itch. (the calamine lotion will make your face pretty dry so use it once a week if you do decide to try it)

http://www.acne.org/...nother-problem/

this is a link to my recent blog just wanted to show you that your not alone sideways.gif

okay ive been doing it every night after i wash my face. Ive done it 3 times so far and no noticable improvements i still wake up in pain i cant even turn my head because im breaking out on my neck now and they hurt like hell you can see little bumps all under my neck forming this is a disaster

Just leave your skin alone your irritatin it more by adding more products or trying natural remedies. Just stick to the regimen your doctor gave you. You have to be patient and at least give it 3-4 months to notice improvements . I'm telling you this because I have cystic acne as well and its painful yes but just let it heal and don't touch your skin . I know it's hard and it's hindering your sleep but honest be gentle with your skin. Adding Epsom salt and all this stuff your just making matters worse . I went insane trying all these crazy ideas people were throwin at me and made my face worse now I've decide to leave it alone because it's to painful to even touch or try anything.

So just hang in there . You are not alone

My derm didn't get me a regimen she basically told me that there's nothing more she can do she has exhausted everything on me. I tried just washing and i swear to you nothing works on my face nothing. My face just gets super bad then it will start to get better for about 2 days and it just does a 180 and it fucking horrible the next day good thing halloween is coming up i wont even need a mask at this rate i swear my face is so hideous its disgusting and painful. so i should stop the epsom salts???? everyone tells me 1000 different things i don't know what to do.

Well you can try leaving your face alone for a couple days and start using Epsom salt again. I'm really sorry to hear that it hasn't worked on you yet but it really helped with my painful cystic acne within two days. Try not to use anything for like three days and then only use Epsom salt at night again make sure your using two table spoon of the salt and one table spoon with hot water make it dissolve a lot before putting on. Do not pick your face do not wash with hot water never and another thing you can do is get a face cloth and wet it with ice water and putbit on your face this feels good but it only helps temporary pain but it can still alleviate the pain for a little while even though its temporary.

I haven't been using anything on my face just washing very gently barely touching my face. I never wash with hot water I use warm water and I've tried Iceing my face it just makes the pain worse once you take the ice off. What really bothers me right now is behind my jaw by my ear, under my jaw and below my right eye it's hurts so bad just a breeze from a fan makes it hurt.

Aww I've been there only mine was worse. You should try a relaxing Epsom salt bath. Soak in the Epsom salt bath for 20-30 mins. Soak a soft wash cloth in the bath water and drape it over your face. Repeat when the wash cloth cools. Also try an anti inflammatory hydrocortisone cream.

Hmm how's your diet? I stopped eating cow milk, deep fried foods, soda and sugars for about three weeks now. I know that helped o make me break out less and it made me feel lighter since eating healthy. Have you thought about drinking apple cider vinegar? I haven't tried it yet but I read some good reviews on it so I'm going to buy a bottle later to drink some in the morning. Oo the Epsom salt bath feels amazing I usually put more then two cups but that's up to you it will help you relax and while your in there splash some in your face. I really hope that you can find something that can help with your pain because I felt the same way too before. You should try looking under the reviews for home remedies and see if you can find something that can be more helpful

Just hang in there I'll keep researching stuff too to give you some help good luck

I stopped drinking milk and soda all together for about 3 weeks now. Ive been trying to watch what I eat I try not to eat dairy products and things with a lot of sugar in them. I've even lost 10 pounds because everything I go to eat has "bad" stuff in it I swear everything has freaking cheese in it do sometimes I just don't eat this isnt good for me because I only weigh 135 pounds as it is well I used to... I have tried apple cider vinegar bad idea I couldn't keep it down I threw up 30 minutes later I only drank a tiny bit, I also heard its very bad for your stomach to.

I dont know what ur diet is like, i had pretty painful acne, for years, i stopped drinking milk, stopped eating cheese and yogert, and within weeks my face was clear...i still have some hyperpigmentation that is healing and i get a pimple here and there, but the days of my face covered in huge painful pimples r gone, give it a try for at least a few weeks and see if u see a difference, i also think wheat products do the same thing for some people, if its not dairy fir u try eliminating wheat! Milk had so many hormones we dont need that it poisons our bodys and our bodies eliminate it thru r skin, milk also causes inflamitory in our bodies, please try it, i think completely eliminating dairy could help u, at least try it, i hope it helps, like i said, within a couple of weeks my face was completely smooth and clear. My acne wasnt quite as severe as urs so urs may take a couple weeks longer to clear but please try it :)

im really sorry you have to deal with this, i truly hope you find a solution soon. I would try and look up a different derm in your area (one with good reviews) and just stick with their advice for a month or two. No one should have to face this battle your going through day in and day out, its just not fair man. stay strong things will get better for you in time.

its horrible i cant even watch freaking tv just being in a neutral position even hurts my neck and jaw throbs and aches. Is there anything a derm can give me like a shot or something to help calm it down i already tried prendisone it worked awesome but i made me go crazy by the fourth day

I had acne for over a decade that looked similar to yours. I finally found a cure through anti-androgens after being on nearly everything. I explained anti-androgens in this post: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php/topic/320186-its-back/

I went to my derm today and she took some cultures from my face which was pretty painful and she also brought in the main Derm from their practice to give a second opinion they both agreed that i have some kind of infection going on in my face they took me off doxy and now im on septra. They also gave me a Foam Benzoyl peroxide 9.8% face wash and also Differin 0.3% gel for my face. I get the culture results back next week so i can see whats really causing my infection.

did they reccommend accutane, or did that not even come up in the conversation?

Also, that would seem like good news if you found out you had a treatable infection.

I agree that a dairy free diet will make your skin look soo much better. I went without dairy for only 2 weeks and saw improvement. I feel like milk and butter are easy to give up, but cheese is my weakness!

yes they did talk about accutane they want me to work twoards that. They said that its not a good idea right now because of the frame of mind im in i need to get a little bit better first.

And for everyone talking about diet it really doesn't make much sense to me before this terrible breakout i used to eat like crap like fast food 3 or more times a week including dairy products and my skin was perfect... How is it that its effecting me now??

Have you asked your derm about accutane? If not, you should call them and ask. smile.png

Anyway, I'm really sorry that you have to go through this, best of wishes -ws

thats good news man I'm happy to hear that they realized you were allergic to the medication. I would be extra gentle with the BP face wash it sounds pretty powerful. Hopefully some of your swelling and inflammation will reduce over the next few days & you will begin to see some improvement. Looking forward to hearing about the culture results, stay positive man, it can only go up from here

My boyfriend is vegan and he says that cashew milk cheese is the best. I have never tried it. Some other non dairy cheeses taste like Kraft singles and I'm not into that. I think whole foods or trader joes might have the cashew milk cheese.

Yeah my swelling has gone down alot. Ive drained a bunch of cysts they just start leaking after i get our of the shower so thats a good sign everything is starting to come out. But those bastards on my neck and under my jaw aren't budging they are so big and rock hard but they don't hurt as bad hopefully they go soon. I can tell this Bp wash is pretty harsh ive only used it for 2 days but its starting to sting my face in the shower but i face isn't getting that dry. ill post when i get my culture samples back
