I have had acne forever and I am 28 now . I pretty much get them all over my face in different forms. Deep cystic acne on my chin and cheeks that I don't know what to do about. And tiny constant milia on my forehead. I have tried every regiment but I am allergic to bp so I can't use it. I get tiny bumps and a rash all over my face whenever I use ANY product that has bp, or any "benz-" in it (lotion, sunscreen, toner) so I know that it is a legit allergy and not incorrect usage.
I have found that I have been getting more severe and cystic bumps (even itchy) more often and it is freaking me out. Since I have dark skin, it leaves dark spots and it's just not attractive with no makeup on. The bumps last for a week, but I feel like every single pore on my lower jaw is getting infected and i am getting this deep and painful acne. I'm going to peruse the forum because I know that other people must be allergic to bp. To make matters worse, my face is oily, yet dry. Like my tzone is dry in the AM after washing and putting on lotion n makeup, but then it gets so oily throughout the day. I've stopped using pond's cream ( i know it's plain oil) and I am dealing with the dryness that is there in the AM b/c I know that it will be oily by 12 pm. I just feel like not using a lotion with oil will lead to wrinkles and dull skin.
Current lotion is neutrogena oil free moisture, cleanser is skinceuticles simply clean which and clean n clear toner.
btw, I am not on birth control, even though I know it may help. I just don't feel too comfy taking something that will alter my hormones. Anyway if anyone has an advice, product suggestions or any words, please respond.
Thanks for reading!!
Hi Emilie0444! Welcome to Acne.org
Have you looked at your diet? People are often able to control or even eliminate their acne by removing (or reducing) certain foods or ingredients, like sugar, vegetable oils, processed foods, even citrus fruit. Have a look at the Nutrition and holistic health forum, there's a lot of information about how foods may have an impact on acne. Just don't let it drive you crazy. If you have to believe some people there, you would end up eating nothing but raw vegetables. Since you're not walking on four legs, making "moo" sounds, that doesn't make much sense. As for topicals: you're allergic to BP, apparently, but there are some alternatives (though not nearly as extensively researched), like tea tree oil, niacinamide gel, green tea, etc. Unfortunately, it's mostly a matter of trial and error. Have a look around, and see what has worked for other people. And make sure not to stress (not too much, at least), and try to have a decent sleep schedule. Good luck!
This is a great article on dairy and sugar actually stimulate acne. Going dairy-free has made a difference in my acne and my husband's. Good luck.

Yes mine as well. Sugar and dairy (as well as high fat) have caused me milia and eliminating these is slowly helping
