I don't have the answer, but here is a link to a thread (21 pages long!) about soaking in sea salt for body acne, where many positive results are reportred.

Can u add more sea salt if need be? I added about 2 tea spoons to my first batch.... when it trickles down ur face u can taste the salt lol yuck.

Wow, that's alot of salt. I think this would be why you're getting a tight feeling. As with everything, balance is the key in this toner. Maybe you should use that batch for spot treatment and start a new one using like half a teaspoon, which is still more than I use. But if you want to use more than a heaping 1/4 teaspoon i wouldn't suggest adding that much more

One more question! I workout everyday after work so I have to shower everyday. Will water be enough to cleanse my face before applying the toner or should I get a natural cleanser?

I haven't washed my face with anything other than water in over four months. And when i take showers, i keep them relatively short and i don't use piping hot water, so as not to dry out my skin. So i don't think you should need a cleanser at all.

Also when i say wash my face, i just let the water run over it.

this seems to be giving me more cystic acne. been using it for approximately ten days now. anyone else had this same problem?

How have you been making the toner priest? Using what salts/teas and in what amount? Also do you wash your face? Take long showers? What's your diet like?

Were you using lots of chemicals for a long time before this and did you quit cold turkey? it might just be your skin getting used to it. I was using the regime for about 4 months before this and I weaned myself off it, quitting BP first, then cleanser, then mosturizer and havent had any problems.

Yeah' date=' with a toner as strongly pigmented as this one is, it's going to look different on different skin types. Have you ever heard of Rooibos Tea? This tea is arguably even more antioxidant loaded than green tea, and has many beneficial trace minerals that are beneficial to the skin. And the biggest difference is, is that it is highly red pigmented.

Now what i'm thinking is...maybe you could do half and half rooibos tea and green tea in the toner. Theoretically they would cancel eachother out and hopefully leave less of a green tint to your skin. I may experiment with this and see what happens. Personally I don't get an undesired level of green tint to my skin. Maybe because my skin has more of a pinkish hue, I don't know. But i think using rooibos in the toner is definitely something you could try.

And i've used a straight rooibos tea toner, and while it worked great at soothing my skin and fighting off acne, it left my skin with a red tint because of how pigmented it is. But I think if you mixed it with green tea you could balance this out

[/quote']

I think I might just be using too much. I'm using cotton balls instead of pads and I've never used toner before this. I dip the cotton ball in so it's kind of soaked in it then put one on each cheek, one on forehead and a little less than one my nose/chin. I'm getting great results doing this though so I'm not sure I want to change it.

I have actually gotten a few more zits, they are taking awhile to dry out with the toner, Ill try another batch with less salt...btw this toner does nothing for my blackheads, personally, if anything they look worse on my nose.

if you're still using it 3 times a day thats definitely way too much. But yeah it's brilliant for pimples, red marks and redness but it doesn't seem to do anything to blackheads one way or the other, I guess try traditional methods for getting rid of those.

Yep. I wasn't sure how this would work for blackheads, and it might not do much at all. And hollywood i know i told you this already, but i'd for sure make a batch using less salt. Two teaspoons is far too much in my opinion. If you want to use more than a heaping 1/4 teaspoon i'd max out at about half a teaspoon at most

Do you think this would work with black tea as well? I've heard black tea is an anti androgen.

I think you could use black tea and see good results. As good as green tea? Well, the antioxidant capacity is greater in green tea than black tea. They are both derived from the leaves of the Camellia Senesis plant. The difference is, black tea is fermented after it's been dried, and green tea is simply steamed after it is dried. Some sources say green tea is partially fermented though. One would think any anti-androgen activity found in black tea would also be present in green tea, since they are the same plant.

I'm glad you brought this up because i've been meaning to make a change in the original post. Since a few people have described the green pigmentation to be a bit too much, i'm going to suggest using white tea instead. It's the least processed of the Camellia Senesis plant, and has roughly three times the antioxidant power of green tea. I like the green tea because it helps with any redness, but if you don't deal with redness, i think white tea would be a better option for you

Hey Fatal,

Trying this out now for the last 2 days and I like it so far. Before I used a generic shower wash and it really dried my skin out and I would have to use moisturiser after. Since using this though I don't seem to need a moisturiser. This is really good for me because I don't think I was using a very good one.

Anyone else noticed this?

Also I keep it in the bathroom, is there any need to keep it in the fridge? Like are there any active ingredients that need to be kept cold?

I saw in another post you said that this can help prevent acne .....how does it do that? I am currently using ACV so i may use your toner in the am and ACV at night. I am also looking for a natural wash and moisturizer to replace my checmically laden cleanser AND moisturizer - any suggestions?

I dont want to risk trying OCM but i need something that can get rid of the germs/dirt off of my face (is ACV possible as a face wash?)

As for moisturizers, i bought an Aloe Plant - think that may help?

Glad you're liking it so far. I do think it should be kept in the fridge. Everything i've read about brewed tea shelf life says it will keep longer refrigerated.

The sea salt in the right amount helps skin barrier function, so even though you hear the word salt and think 'dry', it actually helps your skin to retain moisture. Granted you don't overdo it with the salt, and use a quality salt like those i listed. I still to this day don't use a cleanser, unless you count my very occasional oil cleansing

The biggest thing you can do to prevent acne is internally. Cleansing your body by eating only nutrient dense, organic, whole foods. Excess hormones are filtered out through the liver, and when it's overloaded with filtering out all the other junk flowing through our bodies, it can't do a proper job of cleansing our blood and filtering out these excess hormones. Diet is also huge in restoring a healthy GI tract. So diet is the best thing you can do to prevent acne. But this toner greatly helps with the symptoms of acne

There are others out there, but these are a few that i found that seem pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of using honey as a cleanser personally. My skin felt a bit tacky after i used it a few times before. But perhaps it was because i was using straight honey, instead of mixing it with other things. I know many people swear by it

I just made my first batch with Green Tea + Celtic Sea Salt (this stuff seems to taste so much better than regular salt) this morning. Soo excited to give it a try!

I hope this works out. I'm trying to wean off benzoyl peroxide as well as other products which contain harsh chemicals. So, this seems like a great natural alternative. I'd like to switch to an all natural/ homemade regimen and eventually, replace my shampoo, conditioner and soap. But, I'm taking things one step at a time for now.

Thanks for the info! :)

i'm currently using this as a sort of cleanser. I splash my face with water then use this to get the worst off. Then I got over again dabbing to get more of it to the skin. My face always seems fresh etc. Do you guys also use a cleanser?

Face is recovering from the dryness caused by BP, it's not quite there yet, but I can definitely go without moisturising now. With BP it felt like my face would crack at the smallest movement, but now it's just a little tight in certain spots. I really like this, because it gives me freedom (as I don't have to rush home due to my face getting dry). This will also make travelling much easier.

I almost haven't experienced any new acne, except when I eat stupidly, as I've mentioned before. I'm attempting a grain-free period, but it's really tough when I've been living on pasta for the past 5 years. Struggling a bit to come up with stuff to eat instead, even when looking at recipes. I guess I should work on developing my cooking skills a bit since I've never made anything challenging before.

lol yeah, that will come in handy. I've learned to cook a few things, and i've even experimented on my own (often times failing) But you'll eventually figure out a pretty reliable menu. Good to see you are seeing improvement using this. And I totally support going grain free. May take a little time for your body to adjust, but that's to be expected with any diet change. Chia, Flax, Hemp, and Kiwi seeds are great sources of energy and omega 3's by the way. You can pick them up or order them from a whole foods store already pre-ground. They absorb much better ground up. But you can add these to virtually anything, and are great in smoothies

May I ask what you are using to apply the tea solution during the cleansing step? I may try this...

Another poster to this thread (I think it was PichakuCupcake) applies the tea to her face before her shower and then again afterwards, which is a similar approach but more like steam cleaning. She has reported good results.

I'm breaking out too. Noticed it today, and it keeps getting worse. I'm losing hope. I don't know if I should give this more time, or just go back to BP. Can't be happy either way, it seems. Bleh.

if you just quit BP and other products after using them for ages then of course there will be atransition period, I say don't give up on this just yet because it's worked great for me. No new pimples and the red marks are fading more and more every time I use it.

Yes. This.

Your skin has been dependent on chemicals and has adjusted to the constant abuse it's been receiving all these years. Give it time and make sure you are addressing more than the outside of your body.

Also hollywood, the first batch you made used way too much salt, so you didn't give this a proper start.

Green tea and the small amount of salt used in this toner isn't enough to make anyone breakout. Quite the opposite in fact. Coming off of years of chemical abuse is, however, a very likely culprit
