Scar tissue is scar tissue, no matter what type the scar is.

yeah there are methods to actually almost remove scars by regenerating the skin but do remember that TCA and such don't have any certainty of the effects they will have on the skin.

Subsicion/loron work by resarfucing the old scar tissue and breaking it up so it heals more level, then the use of peels or a good laser like fraxe/PRS-3 will yield good results.

I hate to to have to tell you this but needling/CROSSing recently resurfaced skin will not yield the results you are looking for, your dermis will be recovering from the trauma that is Exoderm for quite some time, it is currently working it's ass off to produce new collagen (and LOTS of it) and if you were to wound that fragile dermis within the next 6 to 12 months the body's healing response would be less favourable simply because it's absolutely swamped right now with the business of collagen production, reepithelization, ect, that kind of stuff takes months to sort out and settle. One of the factors I attribute to my amazing results, apart from my young age, is that I had my first ever peel AFTER I was done with needling, that is, at the time my dermis didn't have to contend with having to recollagenize my ENTIRE face the way yours currently is.

It would have been a lot better if you'd needled first and then done Exoderm because

a) your scars would have been greatly reduced by that point or even gone

b) your dermis would actually be thicker and respond to the peel much better

I am 2 months post Exoderm, how much do you think i should wait before trying self-needling?

Totally agree, Gumby. Most people who don't get improvement from needling or cross are people who have had invasive procedures done.

I think this information has been the best info so far. I want to run out and get needled. We need to start working on a list of practitioners who do needling in certain areas- I am from chicago and do not know of any who perform this procedure. We also (as acne scar sufferers) should come up with a pre-care / post-care regemine to help heal the skin after needling. Thank you for all the great info gumby!! eusa_dance.gif

can invasive procedures produce a permanent "un-healing" effect on skin so that it doesn't react to needling or CROSS like before the produce never again?

I don't see how this could happen, the skin is programmed to keep healing until it reverts back to its former state, tho this might take more or less time, depending on age, general health, genes, ect.

Does the skin really change completely

Gumbers, would you say you've attained over 90% scar improvement?

Yes, given that I can't tell where the scars were anymore. biggrin.gif

Was this solely through the self-needling you did?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if The Derma Roller was the same as Needling and if not what is the difference between the two. It seems from what I have read that they accomplish the same thing. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Dermarolling is indeed a type of needling, however it is used to treat a broad region and is more for inducing general collagen production than for breaking up scar tissue while the other type works on individual scars and specifically targets scar tissue.

Thanks for the reply Gumby. I see your point. Have you or anyone else seen improvements with the Derma Roller? I am looking for pic's but am having trouble finding anything substantial.

I have had laser before using the Derma K laser. I healed well but the results were not what I was hoping for. I do think it leveled my scars a little but I am still looking for more improvement without the down time from lasers. I am looking for something less invasive with less downtime so I will be looking into Needling/Derma roller. Thanks again for replies..

Dear Gumby,

Would you mind taking a web cam pic of your facial skin and posting it please. I'd really like to see your 'lack of acne scars' smile.gif

Tah!!
