hey guys, i ve been reading the posts about fraxel lately and i went for a consultation about it. Currently i am on accutane and i have about 2 more months on it, and i know i have to wait about a year to get it done but the good thing is that they have a summer special that i locked, which is 6 full face fraxel sr 1540 for $3000, and she said that i will be glad by doing it , and there will be a lot of improvement , since i dont have severe acne scars, just some shallow rolling scars.

BTW the consultant lady had some acne scars and she said that she had 3 fraxels done and her complexion was really nice, so i cant wait for this year to pass.

If any one has any comments, suggestions, questions about where this is, let me now. later

Hey, where are you getting this procedure done? 6 full face treatments is really good... It's around 2400 for 3 here.

You can eat yogurt or take a pill. Antibiotics kill all the bacteria in your gut indiscriminately. So you lose the acne causing bacteria in your skin, but also the ones in your intestine that help you digest. Probiotics help get it back to normal. I don't think it's too important to worry about that from a short course of prophylactic antibiotics. The main priobiotics are acidophilus and thermophyllis bacteria. There are a few more.

for anyone who has been on antibiotics for acne though (longer courses), definitely consider taking probiotics after. yogurt is not great compared to actual probiotics you buy at the health food store (in the refrigerated section), as the added sugars in most yogurts counteract why you are taking probiotics. a good alternative is to add a little raw apple cider vinegar to water and sip it daily.

actually a reason to add the 'good' bacteria back into your system is because if you have had acne you most likely have candiasis in your digestive tract, which is an overgrowth of yeasts -- the good bacteria hels to balance a lot of the symptoms of candiasis and keep it from overtaking your system.

Has anyone seen improvements on post-acne bumps? I have a few bumps on my nose, you can call them EXTREMELY enlarged pores which don't seem to go away and it has been a few yearS!

heya PS... the bronzing is normal and usually exfoliates around day 5 so hang in there and don't do anything to aggravate it.

i would give it time and dont touch/aggravate it. if you're light skinned then id say you're fine. if you're darkskinned you shuold be ok too. there's a thread about darkskinned ppl getting fraxel, and their 'bronzing' subsided after time too.

grazzie bambina!!!!!!!!

so fraxel is best for what kind of skin:

shallow pitted rolling scars?

does it help with skin texture?

moderate chicken pox scars?

hyperpigmentation?

does it help with all of the above? or which one is the most affected?

please help me out since i am a lil anxious, but i have to wait since i am on tane, but i want to have an idea of what i'll be doing in the future. thank you

here's a question: If you're doing fraxel sessions every 7-14 days (or more)... your skin is going to be puffy/red/bronzed for a couple months huh?

I'm wondering just how bad is your outward appearence most of the time?

I find it hard to believe that with the results I keep reading on this forum, that people are out there with undisrupted work or social schedules if they're recovering half the time for a month.

Are sessions staggard in intensity so that you only need serious down time every other other session?

Joshu... I usually need about 5 or 6 days to look presentable... so I stay in.

Joshu... I usually need about 5 or 6 days to look presentable... so I stay in.

that's what happened with me, too. i had crazy swelling and some redness through day 4. the 'bronzing' effect is what i would call teeny tiny scabs all over my face, that initially were red but then got more brown with each day, but then once they flaked off it was fine. i had thought that i wouldn't 'bronze' until 4 or 5 days after treatment, as i was told, but it really happened more quickly than that for me. i did 'help' the flaking along just when i washed my face and stuff and it didn't make me more red or anything (i noticed that where i have more baby hairs on my face, around the hairline and sides of cheeks, it wasn't flaking, so i rubbed those areas to get it off -- it seemed like it was ready, it was just that it was 'stuck' from the hair). the only place i had an issue with timing of the peeling was around my mouth, because this area peeled first, was more red, and because it's a part of the face that moves more. it just got really really dry and cracked a little. i had to apply SO much moisturizer in this one spot.

also i just tonight noticed something really weird about fraxel and blackheads. a couple of people here told me that fraxel zapped their blackheads. at first i thought it might have done that to mine, but then tonight i noticed a couple of BLUE blackheads on my nose. i am wondering if, one, the heat from the laser just pushed everything back in, or two, the swelling 'covered' the blackheads, and now that it's down, i'm seeing them again, with the blue dye! they extracted super super easy and were definitely blue.

crazy, huh?

also it's WEIRD to previously have had oily skin and now even at 9 days post, my skin is practically oil-less. anyone else have that experience?

Blue blackheads? Oh yeah tell me about it..ive noticed these on and around my nose on day 3..today im 5 days post fraxel and they all still there..i think its the blue dye and probably some deep cleaning would make these go away which i cant do now by any means..im still so red kinda brown, nowhere near presentable..and its really worrying me like hell

I am one month past my 3rd fraxel2. I have seen improvent in texture and eveness of skin tone. The best areas of improvement are where I had some raised scarring. It is much flatter, and where there was some hypopigmentation with the scars that is improved also. Deeper scars or wrinkles not as much. Based on my results, I will probably have 3 more in the winter when it is easier to stay inside. My biggest complaint is the cost, but other than that I think it is one of the more effective treatments out there, and the best I have tried for my scarring and overall skin quality.

That's good to hear FF, and while it is still early days, a meaningful amount of time has passed. So the raised scars are the TCA scars? Could you please try to add your settings to your signature?

my 4th session is coming up sooooon.

i was wondering, how soon after fraxel can i do microdermabrassion(i've had it done before and i found it very effective getting rid of red marks).

Hiya MaGic. You could look into V-Beam. Usually 2 or 3 sessions 8 weeks apart. You can do it at the same time as Fraxel because they operate on entirely different principles.

you guys should write to fraxel and let them know how much you hate the blue dye cause of blackheads.

The raised scars are from tca and skin cancer surgery. The last fraxel was with the new settings still using the blue dye and they varied from 40-45 with spot treating at 55 at 8- 10 passes.

Unfortunately, just as I had thought in the beginning, it doesn't look like Fraxel is really effective for pitted scars, as that is all I am looking to treat. What a disappointment; I feel real shitty right now.

Are you basing this off your own experience at 70 mJ? From what I recall, you only had 1 treatment, right? You don't really see results until the 3rd treatment.

With that said, fraxel is least effective for icepicks, which is what i assume you meant when you said pitted scars.

"THE BRONZING EFFECT"

After my first treatment I did not have bronzing, then I had my 2nd treatment and no bronzing until a week later and I still have it post 2 weeks... these lil areas around bottom of temples/upper cheecks starting getting that bronzing effect so bad that other people thought I got another treatment lol the weird thing it that the bronzing areas are in the exact same place on both sides. The office told me to start using the bleaching cream every day and it should go away.

Anyone else experience this? :wall:

Sounds more like hyperpigmentation than bronzing...

That's what I was afraid of, although I thought hyperpigmentation didn't occur with Fraxel?
