Hi i will update my results after 2 weeks..This morning the doctor take-out the sutures, and put serile strips told me to remove after 3 days..The re-excise scar has a small indention, told me it will heal within time the other scar looks like a depress line(wrinkle in hand) about 3mm, nut sure if the hole has dissapeared its hard to tell. She told me it will heal within time..Here is my regrime before excision:
1. For 1 week go to church to pray for God for a successful operation and pray the HOly rosary...
2. Told my 2 friends to pray for me..coz excision(surgery) has no guarrantee...2 of my stiches didnt reopen..i guess there's a difference going to a plastic surgeon instead of a dermatologist for excision...My stiches re-open last april for excision i think the derma stiches too tight...
here is a site containing sutures removal from excision :
heres my update...My re-excise scars become more dented...Its a total failure...
to: Maya
Do you think if i take roaccutane, will my scars become hypertrohic...I like to try the drug so that it will raise above skin level by becoming hypertrophic scar...Coz in roaacutane i can see that the side efects are hypertrophic scars
this is shit the excision looks worse...I had the excise scar re-exised but the depressions are still there...WHY??? Why is it i have seen many success of removing moles instead of acne scars...Do you think acne scars are more tissue compared to moles...Why is it in internet pictures excisions look great....
Any body here tried of radiance? i promise to myself no excisions anymore...i wish this board is dead..
I'm sorry for you Lonelyman,
I was thinking of excisions for myself so I'm uspet to hear it isn't working for you.
I don't understand why it has dented either. If all the scar has been removed and you are bringing two healthy pieces of skin together for suture then why would it indent? The indented scar is gone. I can't see why its different for a mole. It gets chopped out and the sides are brought together - same thing. My mum had really big moles removed and it looked fine, no indent.
Can someone else who know chip in here?
I do know that excised scar can look bad at 3 weeks but 2 years later look really good. I had ears pinned back and they make 3 inch scars on the back of my ears. After 1 year they still looked red. Now 3 years later you cannot see any scar by human eye.
Maria and Maya, I really appreciate all your feelback as well as everyone elses. But I am sure many of us would really appreciate it if you girls could post your before and after pics as promised. You guys said that you would provide pics several times but still no pics. Could you please consider providing pics. There are not enough pics on the web to help us all make informed decisions about our options. There is nothing like seeing actual results. thanks
I've just got home from a consultation with a plastic surgeon about this deep pit, ice-pick scar I have and really HATE. About 1, 5 year ago I went to a derm and she told me there was nothing she could do about it (she told me excision wouldn't work) and that I just had to live with it (easier to say than to do). She told me she could only "smooth the edges" and unfortunately I had laser done which made it even WORSE (btw ablative laser is a BIG NO-NO for ice-picks). I actually blame myself for this because I didn't know anything about laser at that time and I should have searched the Internet BEFORE I did this ](*,)Anyway, the surgeon I spoke to today was SO NICE and told me it would be very easy to excise it (I belive he will do what is called a punch elevation). He said it would leave a small, thin scar which is totally leveled with the rest of the skin. I will have a couple of stiches for a week and if I wanted an even nicer scar I could use strips after the stiches are removed. He said there was no need for an inside stitch. I also asked him if this was a common procedure and if he had done it many times before. He just laughed (in a nice way) and said this was the easiest operation you could do and that excision is the first thing you learn as a surgeon. The excision will cost about $250.
I walked out of there a little shocked but VERY happy. After what the derm told me I didn't have much hope and now I was told it was easy to fix!? The only bad thing is that I have to wait two months but hey, if I've waited this long two months really are nothing! I trust this surgeon because he also works at a well known, reputable hospital (and he didn't have the $$ in his eyes
) . HOWEVER, I will not truly believe anything before I actually see it.
I just wanted to share these positive news with you all. This board has helped me when I have been depressed and hopefully this will give you a little hope. If everything goes well I will post some before and after photos since I know it's very hard to find good ones on the Internet.
I think it's going to be a good summer after all
