My Dr Hazany Experience...

Hello everyone who struggles with acne scars like me. I hope I can share my experience with the ever-so-popular Dr. Salar Hazany in Beverly Hills.

Like many of you, I really appreciated his work online and the literature behind his techniques with the different phases of treatment. It was very convincing that this would be the best place to treat my acne scars (which are mainly rolling scars but have some areas of boxcar as well).I won't say much about my previous treatments (microneedling x5, CO2 lasers x1), other than that they helped only about ~20-30%. I wanted a doctor who was going to specialize in specifically acne scarring which not many dermatologists will do of course. I wont share my skin pictures (I would say I have moderate scarring) because I would like to emphasize my experience here instead.

With Dr Hazany, I've completed 2 Phases of his 4 Phase treatment plan. It has only been one month since the 2nd phase so I cannot totally vouch for the efficacy yet. For those who don't know..Phase 1 was basically a consultation taking the before pictures and treating test spots of your face with different solutions of phenol. Phase 2 was the actual phenol treatment.

Concept wise of the treatment plan is great, practice wise, it is an unprofessional disrespectful environment for a patient to be welcomed into. They do not disclose pricing until the treatment is practically over. Phase 1 cost me $1000 for practically no treatment. Phase 2 cost me $2400 for a treatment that I now know will likely not benefit rolling scars. Right before the treatment Dr Hazany conveniently told me "Yeah this not going to work on your scars"... so causal for someone who already placed their deposit ($420) very nice. When Phase 2 was completed they quoted me for Phase 3 (subcision with fillers), I did not put down the next deposit and they were very upset and pushy with me of course.

If you work full time and live more than an hour away like me, be prepared for him to not accommodate to your schedule. My first appointment had to be reschedule due to his family emergency which I totally understand, we made the timing workout anyway for that day. But the staff failed to tell me he would not be meeting with me that day. Be prepared to not speak to the doctor at all for the first couple of treatments. He said I was privileged to talk to him for the second treatment... yeah very nice again. He also tried to reschedule the second treatment for another family emergency reason. I get if you have stuff going on in the family and this happens, but as soon as I see him in the room, he says "Yeah sorry I had COVID" which one is it bro?

The most uncomfortable part of all of this was during the actual time I was able to talk with him. Again, he said I was a "special patient" so I got to speak with him for more than the average patient. When he asks about my acne journey and how I got the scars, I began to tell him my story. It didn't take him more than 2 minutes before cutting me off and asking one of his staff members to start recording our conversation on their phone. He continued to ask questions in an interview-style way without a care in the world for what I was saying. My acne scars do not personally impair me from going about my everyday life and I don't wear makeup everyday because I learn to deal with it (I know it can be hard for many of you, and your feelings are valid). But youknow the way politicians pose a question a certain way when they want a particular answer? Well he did just that and he wanted me to say how self conscious I was about my skin and how crippling it is for my daily life. I gave him the bone and he ran with it, just to get this guy away from me as fast as I could. Thankfully, I did not consent to any of my images or media being shared by their business so they cannot use that video. But for all of you who are curious about similarly treating your acne scars and want an honest patient to doctor relationship - this guy is not for you.

Please do not waste your time and money with him. He hires college graduate pre med students. They are not professionals. They are nice people but they do not have the experience for that $$$ amount. He does not have the professionalism and courtesy that a prestigious top dollar doctor would have. Will be looking in doing the subsicion elsewhere.

I saw some videos of treating this celeb called supreme patty and it looked like he was randomly applying filler while rapping no joke.

I always think your effective treatment session cost should be as low as possible. Because cumulative cost can get higher. We know from experience even after effective treatments it takes time and sessions to get results. Knowing this anyone shouldnt spend huge money for one session, unless your scarring is very minimal. If your scarring is severe it will take time. There is no shortcut. Your body doesnt give a 2 ***k about when you want your scars to be completely healed. You have to understand that for your body this is not life and death physically so collagen is out on back burner or low priority, It will do it on its pace decided by genetics and many other factors.

I also met him and had the exact same experience as you. He also wanted to record me which I also did not authorize at all. He is greedy and just wants money and does absolutely nothing for the patient. Everyone should steer clear of him.

Wait so you won't be treated by him? Whi dies the TCA and the subsicion? I read in another thread that he is busy and will delegate to another MD to do acne..hmm.. I didn't get the right vibe from him on IG. He is so early in his career and should be doing all by himself to command that $$$$. If he so busy with other procedures then may be we should see someone where Acne is his passion! Think Dr Davin lam or similar. Despite the good pictures I decided not to consult with him based on what I read here. Also the result on that girl who showed her receipt from him, was not that impressive to me with lots of down time.

Hazany does all surgical treatments and injectibles himself. His assistants take photos, and a nurse does the phenol cross.

Same with Lim. A nurse will do the TCA cross and minor laser treatments. Lim will do surgery and deep laser treatments.

How do you know? I read form Danny's log and that girl (forgot her name) that another doctordoes the subsicion. And that girl said that Hazany is training his sister and other Dr and his sister to take over since he is super busy. I stopped researching him afterwards...also as I said his results with that girl where not impressive...

I went to Hazany last year. Other doctor helped, but Hazany was there for most of it. Not sure if the other doctor still works there though.

If he doesn't do the subcision himself anymore, agreed that it's not worth it.

How far have you gone with him? All the phases? And how would you assess the improvement? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for sharing this. Sorry you had to go through this. This journey can be tough.

On a side note, could you please tell me how was your CO2 laser treatment? Was it to improve texture, reduce scar borders, or? How much would you say it improved your scar appearance?

Cheers!

Why not? Does it make such a big difference?

Of course..it is very technical..can cause serious trauma if not done right!

Also what is your skin type if you don't mind sharing?
