So I've been on accutane for a bit over 5 months now and am now done! However I'm left with some scarring.
My doctor suggested waiting 1 month then doing subcision w/ prp and Profractional erbium laser. Then doing the same laser 2 more times once a month.
Do you all agree with this plan given my scarring? I appreciate your opinions!
No no no. Pro fractional is too weak for you personally erbium full ablative would be the laser of choice. Check out dr lims Instagram page. Prp is a waste of money and a scam in the acne scar industry but subcision could be help full I would personally use tca to lift scars before the laser
I know its personal but how much is he charging?

You really think it won't work for my boxcars? I'm not sure why they didn't suggest fully ablative. They suggested Halo laser or Profrac erbium yag.
They said they've seen better results with prp with subcision rather than filler. So not much I can ask beyond that.
I also only have enough money for a few treatments so I really appreciate your advice and experience. Don't want to choose the wrong treatment.

Thanks for your reply. I still want to treat the scarring as its taking a bighit to my confidence and overall well-being.
However I agree, with treating the redness. I'm seeing my doc next week and I'm going to ask for Tretinoin to help with the redness and hopefully even out the scarring (maybe enough to not need lasers?)
I think my redness is PIH since it does not really blanch, so hopefully a retinoid will do the trick. Its been like 4 months of very little change for my redness unfortunately.
I would not do any fractional laser. You need a stronger resurfacing for sure. Like full ablative you need to blend edges and texture not do piecemeal imo.Subscision on the deeper spots sounds good with or without pcp (can't hurt with pcp), just choose a good doctor and maybe even do it slowly/test it on a spot.

Oof I see.
Do you have any recommendations on what type of ablative laser i should try? CO2 or Erbium? Also, I believe with something fully ablative I would need to wait several monthspost accutane to try it. So maybe I could start with profractional erbium?

Wait untill all side effects are gone and yes but it will be a more effective treatment and I would reccomnded erbium for your skin type

Do not risk doing it during the accutane window seriously, I remember how much of a point all my doctors made over 10 years ago, you don't want to do major healing procedures when accutane stuns or dumbifies max healing. So yeah just wait at least 6 months after you fully stop accutane (or whatever the timeframe is now maybe it's a year I forget.

I believe newer research says that lasses (that are non fully ablative and no deep chemical peels) can be done shortly after accutane, if not during.
For me, I have 6ish months to do treatments before I begin a program that will prevent me from doing treatments for 2 years. So I want to try to repair as much as I can before that time.
In my opinion ablative laser or dermabrasion and v bream (for redness) will give you the best results. You have more boxcar scars and I would consider it mild, subcision might give you some improvement but it wouldnt be my first or second choice treatment. And I agree that PRP for acne scarring is a scam!!! .done it alland dermabrasion gave me the most impressive and perceptible result. goodluck!
