Subcised scars can re-tether, but new collagen can be formed until it happens- so you will see some results.
CO2 - depends on your healing. But in this world, nothing is permanent, ashes to ashes, dust to dust
I just had laser co2 on one of my pitted scars and it shrunk in size, dont know if that is permanent? I healed quite fast. and I have 2 more sessions left. I have heard that subcision is the most safe and best method for pitted scars.
@daelz7First of all I do not need to see pictures to answer this, only if you want a customized plan, please PM me. This is what happens when members try to guess. Your answer is quite easy.
CO2 does not get rid of scars it softens them. Every 28-40 days your skin turns over with a fresh new coat, this is what happens to cells all throughout our body. When you have scar tissue, regeneration does not occur like other places with normally producing skin that is not damaged cellular. To get rid of scars you would have to cut them out (not many people want to do this). As such as we age scars can get worse, it's known as premature aging, the deeper levels of skin are gamaed and make a basket weave pattern (hence scar tissue). The weakest part is the scar. The tissue is not strong here and instead a covering the body used to prevent infection. Ok back to CO2, ... What I have seen is people get CO2, have temporary swelling and think they fixed their scars. This is not true. We need to treat at the deepest level issue first, manual methods always First as well. Look into subcision if you need it and some filler. Aging is a constant process, those issues show at the weakest link - aka scar tissue. Fat is gone once it's damaged.
This is why a old woman get's co2, she looks tight and more refreshed, ... she does not have scar tissue just excess wrinkles and fat loss. Slower time to heal as she get's older. She must do laser 5-10 years again to keep these results with filler, sunscreen, and a healthy diet. Nothing lasts forever.
Laser does not get rid of tethered scars, perhaps surface issues it softens. You need subcision with a filler to prevent re-tethering.

I have 2-3 sessions of subcision scheduled, my derm told me what you told me but said that with co2 laser He cannot for sure know how I will turn out , because everyone recovers different. the swelling has gone down and the scar remains the same shrunken size? so I should expect for it to go back to what it looked like before in months right? .
He said that he will injecthyaluronic acid as well. Very honest and straightforward person, I had a good feeling about my scheduled procedures. he said that he will perform the co2 sessions 5-8 weeks apart. 3 sessions.
@daelz7Of course this is your own treatment and own plan. That being said I do not believe in combining subcision and co2 laser. You doing that can bring side effects to the results you would get. You need 4 subcisions, ... co2 laser is for texture not for atrophy. You treat the deepest issue first with manual methods, - thus energy devices are last, but it sounds like your Dr is a general derm and want's to take the standard approach of combing treatment with laser.
This makes since that your scars will remain the same, you have a Dr who is not treating your scars the right way. I would have done 4 subcisions 3 months apart, evaluating the changes that happen from healing, ... You need filler after or Chinese Cupping(amazon).
It's great that he is very honest and straight forward, and if your comfortable with him then follow his plan for treatment.
I was responding to your initial question about co2 laser, ... it's like asking does frosting last on a cake if you frost it before you bake it. The frosting is the texture and the cake part is your skin that needs to be worked on with subcision, thus this needs to do the heavy lifting not the laser which is done last in treatment.
