@ExclusiveSetDr Novick will not listen to other's advice, ... he only does things his way. Part of this to me is to make money or perhaps to cover areas that were missed, ... if it's the latter that's fine. Any Dr, even Khrom will rope you into weekly injections if you let them they see the $$$$. It's up to you to decide what is best. I can only educate the slowness of healing after treatments and that collagentakes 3-6 months to build. If you want to cross now it may be fine, after all he just put some filler under the skin. 8 weeks is short but that's understandable2 months. There is no rushing treating scarring right, and many take 3 years to treat their scars. Go ahead and do your tca cross with Khrom or Him, ... from what I hear of his field subcision it's not very aggressive, but I would plan 3 months between, do at home treatments while waiting for the next apt,. Dermastamping and glycolic peels - more and more research shows this is beneficial.
One treatment isn't going to fix everything. I had to do submission 3 or 4 times on a small scar to get it to a good point. If you have a new scar from the subcision id have him fix that as well which he says he can based on my experience with him. but if youre traveling far to see him and are unhappy with the results I wouldn't waste money to go back but I also wouldn't write him off after one treatment because hes helped me out quite a bit. good luck!

You might help a lot of people reading if you state his costs, since he will not reveal his prices upfront. I never had any intention of seeing him (I don't live in the US), but it would be fascinating if people could list their cost of treatment while visiting Novick.
next time ill visit ill pay attention to the fees and try to share them here
novick always told me to wait 6 weeks before doing more subcision. I dont recall him doing tca and subcision at the same time on my scars but he has done both on them at different times. he is a bit conservative I think but I dont think its out of greed or anything. he doesn't want to over treat but also requires an extra visit or so perhaps. I think all doctors are set in their ways of doing what they know. I dont know if I would see multiple doctors at the same time and have two different treatment plans but thats up to you.
Im pretty positive on novick because hes helped me. and im just reading the threads about him. ive seen two other derms in nyc...one I did some stuff with before novick and another that was focused on lasers but I never went to and then their practice emailed me a few months later saying it was time for my follow up...which was really odd.
scar treatment isn't cheap so go somewhere youre comfortable and feel like youre getting results. and trust people that have actually gone to see some of these doctors over people that just say they heard this and that. at least you went to someone that has produced results in the past...but try a few others out. I had to do that in order to find novick.
a lot of people are giving novick a lot of grief here. I think its terrible if someone doesn't get the results they want but based on my own appts with him he never guarantees 100% success rate and he also tells you you'll need multiple treatments. when I first got submission (I didnt need the field type)...I also asked about getting a scar from the needle. he said it would be small and I wouldn't. And if I did he would deal with it.
After the first subcision things looked great. but the filler goes away and you have a little better look than before. and you go back and repeat the process a few times. if someone here is expecting no scars after 1 treatment of subcision or expecting things to look great like right after the appointment 6 weeks after then you're being unrealistic. if you're unhappy and feel ripped off, you have a right to feel that way. I think a lot of us have high expectations and hopes and need to realize we have scars and the goal is to reduce them and it takes time. if you had a bad experience with a doctor or decide he isn't performing to your expectations than I expect nothing less than a negative review but I think you're doing a disservice to a bunch of other people by saying what he does doesn't work after one treatment. as for the celebrities and socialites, I have no idea if he has any that visit him. he's never talked about any to me, he doesn't have photos them with autographs like my ENT doc did with Tina Turner...im usually the only person in the waiting room if I show up and hes working on someone else in the room.
I dont know why he has so much time to answer questions on realself. but I know its not easy to get an appointment with him and he travels between nyc and Israel often. personally,. I think he is a good person that knows hes not cheap and is set in his techniques but also isn't focused on just making money. if he was, he would double and triple book and not spend so long just chatting with you about your options and his travel. I think hes okay with making less and building a relationship with the patient. he onlyuses one room in his office for treatment in nyc...if you visit any number of other derms in the city, you have a wait and a lot of rooms filled up. at the end of the day I think hes trying to help...but you cant make everyone happy.hes helped me tremendously so I am writing this post so others that are skeptical realize he's not a fraud. hes actually pretty good...at least for me and thats all that matters (selfishly).
Ive posted before and after pictures about my visits to Novick. I had terrible results and wasted about 6k between two visits. I went to rullan after and he was 1000x better. Also everything that the person wrote in that long detailed review is also all true. I wouldnt be surprised if Novick also cleans up his image on reviews somehow. I would stay away at all costs. Its all hype and wasting money and no actual results

I have been treated by Dr. Novick numerous times with minimal improvement. I thought it was best to stick to one doctor instead of bouncing around several doctors after a few treatments. In addition, scar treatments often require multiple procedures and is a long term commitment, soI kept sticking with Dr. Nelson.I could not have been more wrong. Here are some things that I found concerning.
1. Dr. Novick is very anti-laser and he uses this as his marketing gimmick. And while it is true that lasers are often over-sold as the silver bullet of scar treatment and can lead to major disappointments, there are success stories if you find a skilled dermatologist. Dr. Davin Lim is a major advocate for using the right lasers for the right scar types. On the other hand, Dr. Novick claims that he doesn't believe in lasers because it is too expensive, consumable heavy, and ineffective. And so his marketing ploy is to exclusively promote treatmentslike TCA cross, subcision, fillers, and microneedling. These treatments can be very effective if performed correctly for the right scar type. I am not disputing this.
My criticismaboutDr. Novick is that his treatments are insanely expensiveand if you end up getting the treatments he recommends, it actually ends up costing MORE than laser treatments. Dr. Novick essentially uses "anti-lasers" as his marketing gimmick to promote himselfas a "cheaper alternative" when that is not the case. One subcision for a dime sized area is a couple hundred dollars. That is for a single scar.So if you have multiple scars, you needto get multiple subcisions, thus costing well over a grand for one treatment session. You will likely have to get multiple sessionson top of multiple sessions of TCA cross, fillers, microneedling. All these treatments are extremely pricey as well. In total, you will need around 3-5 treatment sessions for each treatment type.He does offer small discounts if you get multiple, but this is just lip service to make you feel better. It will still cost you A LOT of money to be treated by this doctor and the discounts don't even make a dent. It is not at all the cheaper alternative to lasers that he markets himself to be.
2. He FORCES you to get at least one treatment essentially through "extortion." That is, his consultation fee is a couple hundred dollarsand he will only waive this fee if you get a treatment. If you don't get a treatment, you basically spent a couple hundred dollars for nothing. He justifies this because he spends about 45 minutes on the consultation and that is his hourly rate. The only thing is that the consultation is useless and he just spews information that you can find about scars online. Information about different types of scars and what not that you can learn about by watching Dr. Lim's youtube channel or basic research over the internet.
The reason you have to get a consultation is to get the price quotes of treatments, because he will not tell you the prices of treatments over the phone. He claims that he can't give specific prices because every person and his/her needs are different. But whenyou go see him, he will just tell you the standard prices for the treatments that applies to everyone. I just think that it is unethical to charge an insane amount of money for a bs consultation and you have to end up getting at least one treatment in order to not waste hundreds of dollars.
I have found that this method is common amongst doctors and not specific to Dr. Novick, but there are also plenty of other doctors who either have low consultation fees or tell you the prices and treatment details before you get treatment. Dr. Rullan is a great example of this. I just get the feeling that Dr. Novick is about money first and patient second, whereas doctors like Dr. Rullan are patients first and money second. I asked Dr. Rullan to perform a more expensive treatment thanwhat he recommended and he refused because he said thatI would be wasting money.
3. Some of his actions are incredibly shady. First, he is adamant that you don't share prices of the treatments online to the degree that is uncomfortable when he talks about it. He wants the consultation money rolling in. Second, I have asked him to send me before and after pictures to compare, but he has ignored my requests one time and said that the pictures got deleted in another instance. Lastly, his recommendation for my treatment plan changedafter I got a consultation and the next time I went to go see him. I did not get any treatments in between that time and nothing about my scars had changed. This is also considering that he spent close to an hour on the first consultation.
4. There are cheaper alternatives for the same treatments. It is literally cheaper to fly to California and seeDr. Rullan. Total cost including the treatment and airfare will still end up being cheaper than going to Dr. Novick.Dr. Rullan also does a much better job at performing subcisions. I have gotten subcisions from both doctors and Dr. Novick's are pretty superficial whereas Dr. Rullan really goes in deep.
These are just my thoughts. Please feel free to comment your thoughts and experiences. Thereare also positive reviews on realself and google reviews, so you can take a look at themto get both sides of the coin if you are thinking about seeing him. This is only my personalexperience, and I'm sure there are others who have had genuinely positiveexperiences with Dr. Novick. It's just that I suspect that Dr. Novick has bad reviews pulled on some sites. he is extremely meticulous about his image.

On the 12th I have an appointment with Dr. Ringpfeil. I'm going to ask about subcision.
don't the fillers dissolve over time?
