I've got a deep peel scheduled for the end of next month. It's sooner than I'd like but it's hard to get this much downtime (2 weeks). I also have to take time offas my eyes will be swollen shut for the first few days so I cannot work.

For those who are following this thread, since we've limited data on this forum, I plan to documentthe first 5days, the 2-week mark, 1-month mark, and 3-month mark for the chemabrasion treatment. I hope this is where my journey ends.

Have you looked into medical tattooing?

@JustSomeNameWith all due respect, ... What? He does NOT need medical tattooing. Tattooing is for those who have a loss of pigment. White scars. It does not match 100% skin color, and it's always best to heal natural ways before considering this last. It's popular with body scars. If you want to treat a dark scar you must lighten it first before considering this pulse dye laser and hydroquinone, ... just like if you paint a dark wall with a lighter color. He does NOT need this. Any hyperpigmetnation can be taken care of with a laser PDL and retinoid's nightly - skin lightening cream like the PCA hydroquinone free gel - amazon. His deep peel will take care of this big time so I don't think he needs to bother with it.

12 days post subcision with suction. I assume there's still a bit of swelling.

Holy F**K....  Congrats.  This is mind-bogglingly good.  I'm floored.    This thread is going to help so many people who have lost hope.    I appreciate how honest you've been by documenting this journey with consistent and honest photos.   Your results are undeniable.   To think you achieved this in a relatively short amount of time.   You must be so thrilled with the improvement.  Can't wait to see your continued results as time passes.

Hey Is there a rhyme or reason why Rullan did Cross almost every month almost? Is that a typical recovery period and were you able to handle it? ? ? Seems like cross would take a long time to heal from and gain the full benefits 2 - 3 months down the line.

@joeyskRullan will stack treatments and treat you daily if you let him $$$$, he has a sales coordinator who helps encourage this. This goes for all Dr's. You must keep in mind your best interest, the 3 months between treatments is what the data shows including histology and the slowness of collagen formation. Surgery scars take up to a year to heal. Laser can take 6 months to a year to heal after(all this is hidden under the skin). If you have many scars I often find the Dr's miss some areas and thus want to treat more often This makes since if the scars are allowed time to heal but you are covering the missed areas. I see no benefit of treating sooner, especially since the majority of you will do his full package that has several components that need to promote healing. OF course the choice is yours, many cannot see a Dr monthly, let alone some can only afford once a year or are traveling(in these cases I have seen treatment stacking before they fly out). The average patient takes over a month to heal from cross and complains about redness and healing, dermablend concealer can be used over the scars(spot treat), once the scabs have fallen off, Rullan's method often does not have scabs afterwards(TCA cross does).

Hey congratulations on your progressman, youve come a really long way!

I have very similar but slightly more wide spread scarring than you and am currently undergoing the subcision +saline + suction route (2 so far &3rd in 3 weeks)

Lately I'vebeen thinking of giving fillers like diluted skulptra a shot, and i justwanted to know your experience in regards to the permanence of the results from them.

I clearly understand they aren't permanent but does that mean my skin will go back to how it was prior to the filler after it dissolves? Or will there be a degree of permanent results?

Also as a question to everyone who has experience with subcision + saline how was your procedure done? Currently my PS does subcision first and then pokes my face all over while injectingsaline shortly after.

I saw a video on how subcision + diluted skulptra was done at the same time with a cannula and couldnt help but think that maybe my PS should do it the same way with saline for better results?

All advice would be greatly appreciated as I will be having my 3rd subcision about 3 weeks from now.

I wish you all the best for the Fall to get rid of the remaining textural issues! Good Luck!

@Gary_6100I realize your new here, ... the best way to post is make your own thread and ask questions as we don't want to side track someone else's thread. These are basics that are covered in the FAQ - pinned in the main scar treatments sub at the top there, ... in the subcision section.

  1. Saline is temporary(it's absorbed in 24 hrs) and thus does not work for most cases with scarring, if it did we would use that instead as it's incredibly cheaper. It can work in early scars, and steriod atrophy. Seconly you are doing the protocol completely wrong, we don't do subcision weekly, or even monthly. It's done every 3 months, by doing it so close together you are causing more damage than healing, constantly making new wounds, and preventing collagen formation. Dr scar treatment should be done every 3 months, this is a marathon not a race, as such allow your body to heal it's extremely slow at making collagen. Dr's will push treatments sooner for their own benefit $$$$ and swelling hiding your true issue or healing.
  2. Permanent results are obtained through his own collagen production and replacement, ... this is individual, you may not have this if you do not heal well. We are only using these fillers as a spacer not as a permanent solution. Scar treatments are individualized(customized) to the patients needs, you cannot compare as everyone is different including their health, healing, circumstances, how treatments are performed, and so many other factors. The point is again we use filler as a spacer, or your body will re-attach(it even does this with saline), with time a collagen stimulating dilute filler (Sculptra, radiese) replaces the filler with collagen - it's all individualized. You posting about HGH and I answered your post there and it's harmful usage, this could also make your scarring and"new" acne worse effecting your outcome as your playing around with the bodies hormones look at any body builder forum.
  3. Why are you discussing saline here, ... has nothing to do with his topic, we are side tracking it, ... would be best in your own"new" posting. Saline is not permanent and typically does not work for scar patients. It was popular years ago, they use saline when you get any injection from a hospital, ... it lost favor with better solutions-fillers. Chinese Cupping(amazon) would thus be more effective than saline as you do it for a month- daily... after(but often cause bruising).
  4. "I saw a video on how subcision + diluted skulptra was done at the same time with a cannula and couldn'thelp but think that maybe my PS should do it the same way with saline for better results?" - this makes no since?... Of course it works, we have helped thousands here with filler. He cannot tell you what will or will notwork for you, that is your physicians job as your paying him for his skill, ... if he does nto have that skill he could make your scars worse. Subcision is very skill dependent, there are few DR's who specialize in scars in the world.
  5. This is a marathon, not a race, read f93d's posts, ... not a quick process, took a lot of time, work, treatments, and $$$$. Texture is always treated last after the scars are addressed. IF you need to be advised on your own scars as it's individual, please make your own post with some pictures of your scars making shadows.

@beautifulambitionI did not mean to derail our friend's thread and for that Iwould like to apologize. But I really do not like this condescending way in which you make out your messages.

Im not sure if English is your first language but this isnt the first time youve completelymisunderstood what I was saying.

1) When Imentioned going for my 3rd subcision i meant as in my 3rd will be 3 weeks from today. And thus a total of 9 weeks since my last.

2) As for the saline I am completely aware of how it has no permanence. It lasts upto 2 days depending on the quantity injected. The purpose of the question was to ask if others' doctors used a different method to my PS for the injections. I mentioned in my post that I am undergoing subcision + saline + suction. The only purpose of saline is to prevent rethethering in the first 2-3 days post op where we are unable to suction due to the needle entry points.

3) Yes, you and I discussed the fact that treatment is a marathon not a race and I just want to make it clear that I am not looking for the magic pill. I am just trying to gather and share information that may lead to our treatments being more efficient overall.

Anyways I do not want to derail this thread any further so my apologies.

@beautifulambitionI am not trying to be hostile btw, just clearing things up. I still greatly appreciate how much you help people on this forum.

That's just the first 2 treatments. The first one the concentration was weak.

The collagen Sculptra builds is "permanent". It's phenomenal. The fat depletion was why I originally thought treating my scars was hopeless. If you're talking Juvederm, I only used it as spacer; I want that filler out of my skin eventually - it looksunnatural for scar filling.

For the other questions,I can't comment. I'm huge on subcision/suction and would recommend everyone to skip phenol crossso they can suction, even if they plan to use filler later.

@f93dThats great to know thanks!

Btw, I'm aware youve gone through multiple subcisions, one of which was prepped for by taking Aspirins.

Would you say that the subcision + suction session that was paired with aspirin was; more effective, less effective, or neutral; compared to those done without the prep?

I'm not convinced the aspirin helped. It just increased healing time.

Originally I had this idea that if my skin was bruised for many months after subcision, there was no possible way for the scars to retether. However from Treatment #2 of my first post in this thread, I was bruised for 2 - 3 months, yet the scars retethered anyway and I only got 15% improvement.

Now I think 2.5 - 3 weeks is a good duration for bruising, and the best way to keep it swollenis with a suction device.

Wow really? What do you consider bruising?

I've had 2 subcisions with Rullan and I would say that my bruises subsided in about 7-10 days. I'm sure some scars re-tethered but I'm not sure the %.

That was poorly worded. I suctioned until around the 2 - 3-week mark. Bruising lasts around 7 days.

Have a 2 -day chemabrasion scheduled in 2 weeks. Got almost everything prepped, buying some Soylent for my meals and a bottle + straw. I hope this could wipe out the textural issues - I'm okay with the remaining pits I have.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you planning on getting the chemabrasion? I need to look into options as well as I head into my third subcision.

@f93d Your comment about the "permanence" of Sculptra piqued my interest. Have you read any research that the colagen formed from the Sculptra powder lasts indefinitely? Everything I've read claims longevity of 2-3 years, which I'm assuming also means the observable improvement and just not the material itself. Are you saying that the collagen survives even after the Sculptra particles have long dissipated?

My understanding is the Sculptra particles last for 2 years, and the collagen lasts as long as collagen lasts.

My phenol is this coming Monday. For those also considering the procedure, don't procrastinate as I did. The blood test and EKG take about 20 minutes each. I failed my EKG which resulted in 2 additional days of testing to get approved. Finding a caretaker for a few days can be difficult and expensive.

I waited last second for the caretaker because I thought the contact from the doctor's office would be reliable. The office gave me a contact for a Chula Vista caretaker agency. I filled out a form online and the guy called me within a few seconds. I told him what I was looking for, he brushed me off and said he'd call back. I called a second time to ask a quick question, again he said he'd call back. I tried calling again a day after (3 times throughout the day) but he didn't bother to pick up nor call back. If something goes wrong with the caretaker, I shouldn't be calling a dead number during business hours. This was enough for me to move on.

Here's where I'm at:

Wow... This phenol peel is serious business. I honestly wish you the best of luck. I don't know if I could handle 3 weeks of downtime and all the unknowns. I'vehad various kinds of resurfacing and I do not think my skin tolerates them well.

Are you doing full face? Does he require full face to prevent demarcation lines?

I have a caretaker. I went through my connections and found a recommendation I trust. The office requires me tosigna paper sayingI'd have a caretaker / family member / close friendfor the first 48 hours 24/7. Living 175miles away makes this difficult.

Full face.

I don't know about the demarcation lines, I have full face scarring down to the jawline that my pictures don't capture, so I guess that question wouldn't apply to me.
