Who diagnosed you with grade 4 scarring? Is this your own assumption? Sry but telling from your pics- this is not grade 4. I don't know what to think of your afters, thb. The last pic of you with the towel wig looks very good actually, but lighting & angle are totally different.
There is such a thing as a severity or grading scale for acne scarring, which is what QuanHenry is referring to:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17173571?dopt=AbstractPlus
[Link removed]
Macular Lesions | Atrophic or Hypertrophic Scars | Observability | Grade |
present | none | NA | 1 |
NA | mild | easily covered; not obvious at 50+ meters | 2 |
NA | moderate | not easily covered but flattened by stretching the skin | 3 |
NA | marked | not easily covered and cannot be flattened by stretching the skin | 4 |

It was a hoodie lol.
That is why I hate posting pictures, it's impossible to get the same light and angle, which is critical when evaluating progress. That's why I save videos, but I don't plan on sharing those.
Youll just have to take my word for it, and accept the pictures as evidence rather than proof. Or not, idc really. Wouldn't blame you.
It's not that hard, actually.
Being honest with oneself can be quite tough, sometimes.

Improving grade 3 scarring (you're even closer to 2 than 3, I should add) to 1 is an event nobody here wants to miss. Almost feels kinda cryptozoological.
So what's the matter with donating some footage? Be the first!
I disagree with you. Even a slight turn of your head can drastically change how your skin looks. It's always inexact without a machine. We're really talking about a few millimeters here, so being precise matters, and rear facing selfie cameras are never that.
I'll do a follow in my topic at some point.

Why would he use different lighting to trick other forum posters, when there is no financial or any real gain by doing so?
I would always go by the shadowed areas. At a certain point their presence becomes visible to the full extent when angled lighting is used. Of course, you have to look for this certain point/angle (usually not too close to the face & slightly below the affected areas as seen in your first b&a's)
If your texture appears more or less harmonious after scanning your face for the next time this way, there are no more questions left.

It happens quite often. Scar revision usually comes along with greater financial (& emotional) investments. Most of us need results to move on with life. You can make yourself believe that by altering lighting or never checking back to the forum.

Yet he still posts here. Amd using that logic he would still have the scars and see them every day
I do agree, accepting your scars and moving on is a good idea. Not everyone is going to get the results they desire through current treatment options.
I disagree that the poster in question has faked his result here. I'm more inclined to believe posters on here than say reviews on rate mds, which would be a haven for positive fake reviews, since you can post anonymous and without even logging in!
We agree on that one. People delude themselves by posting misleading pictures for a self esteem boost.
Ive got nothing to hide though. I'm 100% sure the scars have "floated to the surface". I can't say how long it will last for sure, and I'm not even done my treatments. I'll probably do one or two in 2018, but I'll be here along the way.

If my memory serves me correctly, you used to be that cynical one. I'm glad that you got your self-confidence back. But keep us updated with your progress (regardless of what the skeptics say).
Im usually quite negative on whether acne scar treatment is worth pursuing so i thought id post this youtuber ive watched over the past year. I think if people can actually achieve results like hers, its worth doing. Especially the right side of her face. It got massive improvement, and i dont think lighting was used to manipulate results. The only disappointing part is she used some permanent filler as part of her treatment, which i would be terrified to do lol

I've followed her for a long time. She did her procedures, including silicones injections, by Dr Rullan. She did get a lot of improvement.
@seattlegal90 I too have been stalking her . But if you look at the timeline of her uploaded vids, you would see that she had additional treatments after that video, including more laser and fillers. And in this next video, she is disccussing whether it was all worth it. She brings up interesting points about lasers and fillers.
@dazzedI did not know it was done by dr rullan ill have to keep that in mind as i am hoping to find someone in california. Im unsure what he charges, but seattle area has very few acne scar specialist and the ones i have found charge 4x more than the average doctor.
@Sirius LeeHaha, im not the only one. I rewatched that video, i hadnt seen it in awhile. I think she has some excellent points on lasers. Not to mention youre at higher risk of damaging the skin than you are at achieving visible improvements. However, there was one girl on youtube who had laser done and i was impressed with her results. Ive been trying to find it. I wish i could find more before and after cases that were documented via video. Its very difficult to judge someones improvement based on a photo

Yes but...:( Tbh, I think I am quite capable of making peace with what I look like now. It would take some work since I am rather awfully self-conscious and shy about it but I think I could work on it. Yet what scares me is the future - we all know that as we age the scarring and our overall appearance will only be getting worse and worse. I'm 27 so still relatively young, still have some fat, some plumpness (could be much better but still)
So I am doing this for the future me, in large part.
I am completely at peace with the idea that I will have to take care of the skin for the rest of my life with small non/mini-invasive treatments like needling, fillers etc in order to keep the skin at least average-looking... So.. to think that you ll undergo a couple of treatments in span of a year and you're done is rather foolish.
I talked to her about lasers. I actually told her don't do anymore and keep doing the fillers because that seemed to help her the most. . People need to stop thinking of acne scars as doing a bunch of treatments and stopping forever. It will take life long maintenance. Of course over time that frequency decreases, but you have to be naive if you think you'll never have to do anything every again after.
Of course I understand it can be a expensive, but that's our reality. You'll have to make sacrifices. It's like managing a chronic disease like diabetes almost.
