Yes this can be a side effect. It's not common. Have you consulted with the doctor who did the subcision, what did he say during the followup. It can resolve itself after several months. Typically with this response you are susceptible to keloid scarring. They can use steroid injection but it must be very dilute so not to make a divot. Some doctors do a tiny bit and have you come back for more if needed. Speak to your Dr about how to resolve this. If your not comfortable seek a second opinion from a acne scar specialist.

Some of your are traveling so this will have to be with your nearby derm or if the treating doctor is available to you follow up with concerns.

Have your doctor make sure to squeeze any excess blood out of the wounds before bandaging, "pressure stops bleeding".

If the hematoma is not visible and under the skin, this can provide a bit of a natural filler that you need with subcision. Another reason I like to do filler post swelling from the subcision.

If it's visible above the skin massage it at home, see if it resolves in a few weeks, you can try the aspirin trick to see if it breaks up the area. Discontinue any Chinese cupping if your doing this until it resolves. If after a few weeks to a couple months it does not resolve then get it injected with dilute steroid. Typically these resolve themselves if left alone and are especially not to be a worry if they are hidden under the skin. You can continue your treatments if they don't bother you.

Hi, Dr Chu said what I was experiencing was normal and things would settle. He offered me to see him again to have some injections to help them (presuming kenolog/steroid) but I am not so keen at the moment! I'll see what time does for now and will have to deal with them - trying to be positive!

Follow what BA has to say, and Chu, as they have more experience than myself and possibly you. See my comment on haematomas and lumps, best treat early. Lumps can be good (as they are actually microhaematomas or seromas - the later occurs later). This is why some specialist ask patients to take aspirin or even inject autologous blood during the procedure, not a fan of both, based upon a literature search. If you can feel a lump, its OK, if you can see a lump, sort it out sooner rather than later. BA's and Chu's advice has a much heavier weighting than mine!

@Obi wan Just wondering, why do you think aspirin before subcision or prp after subcision is not a good idea?

@keving100He is just saying aspirin is not a "proven" in mass treatment in the whitepapers / clinical data like steroid injections are to resolve hematomas. Just like I tell you to massage them daily, but there isn't proven data on that, or suction / Chinese cupping after treatment.
