Hi everyone,

I'm Kiri 30yo from Essex in the U.K. Long time reader, first time poster

I'm considering asking my friend to treat my old acne scars with dry tattooing but would love some advise/directions as I obviously don't want to make matters worse.

Firstly, I'm not 100% exactly what types of scars I have (possibly a mixture of rolling and boxcar??) And I'm not fussed about treating the odd icepick. I just want a smooth appearance to my skin and it's really getting to me especially with my wedding next summer.

If anyone can shed any light on the idea of using tattoo machines, negative or positive. Tips on:

Needle groupings and settings (flat or round?)

Depth to work at- as I believe regular tattooing only penetrates the epidermis layer which isn't deep enough to promote collagen production

Machine settings (is it better to have the machine working faster or slower?)

Are rotary machines better than coil machines?

Any other tips or advise you may think fitting.

I'm also open to using chemical peels alongside of advised

Thanks in advance!

This is from owndoc.com makers of the [removed]

" Because an ordinary tattoo machine is too harsh on the skin, as it deeply penetrates the skin 100 strokes per second way to fast (depending on your mains frequency) and cantbe down-regulated to the speed we need. A tattoo machine can easily make the scar worse.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Des Fernandez, inventor of the dermaroller, said:However, we have to realize that if one did the deeper needling
at the density of a tattoo, then the skin would be scarifced, and sure onewould get a lot of collagen (in the form of scar tissue) and not a restorationof the complex elastin and collagen network which we aim to achieve withneedling. However, deeper scars need greater penetration with the needle Even if the extra needling is done by hand, this iswell worthwhile doing .

Hi!

Thank you so much for your help, i'm so happy with your response!

I've actually been reading a lot about the Derminator today and would much rather go down that route if you think i'll see good results with it i'll go ahead and order the machine over the next few days.

I have a strict skincare routine and only use Dermalogica products, do you think i should introduce anything into my basic regime? I'll obviously not be exfoliating within a few days either side of treatment.

Many thanks!

Derminator is great. Many of us use it here. It will help you with acid peels as well.

Sure stick with you Dermalogica if you wish.

Isotrex might help as well, its a tretinoin / retin a for the UK, you can just order from online I believe the script.
